The St. Mary Help of Christians Church [1] or simply Sanaa Catholic church is a religious building that is located in the city of Sanaa, [2] the capital of the Asian country of Yemen. [3]
The church follows the Roman Catholic or Latin rite and depends on the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia formerly known as Apostolic Vicariate of Aden, but name change under Pope Benedict XVI in 2011 with the decree "Bonum animarum" of the congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples (Congregatio pro gentium evangelizatione).
This is one of the 4 Catholic parish churches in that nation, the others being dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi (Aden), Sacred Heart of Jesus (Hodeidah) and St. Therese of the Child Jesus (Taiz). [4]
The Catholic Church in Yemen is part of the worldwide Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope in Rome. There are three thousand Catholics and four parishes in the country, which forms part of the Vicariate Apostolic of Southern Arabia which also includes several other countries in the Arabian peninsula. Most Catholics are temporary foreign workers living in the country with their families.

He is one of the people credited with establishing the presence of the Catholic church in the Arabian Peninsula.
