The club was formed in 1982 following an amalgamation of the clubs in the parishes Muckalee, Ballyfoyle, and Coon. [3] [4] [5]

The club's first officers were: chairman, Billy Costigan; vice-chairman, John Walsh; joint secretaries Patsy Murphy, Paul Kinsella; joint treasurers, Tom Dowling and Jimmy Maher; senior selectors: Billy Costigan, Patsy Murphy, Dinny Carrigan, Mick Somers, Tom Dowling.

This was the first hurling title ever for that club. He was a member of the Kilkenny senior inter-county team from 1969 until 1971. With Kilkenny Lawler won an All-Ireland title and two Leinster titles. He was the first representative from the Coon club to play in an All Ireland hurling final. He later went on to play inter-county hurling for Wicklow.

Patrick O'Neill is a former Irish sportsperson. He played club hurling with Young Irelands GAA club in Gowran, County Kilkenny. He joined the senior team in the early 1990s, and won two senior Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship titles in 1996 and 2002. He also won All Ireland Senior medals in 1992 and 1993 and was an All Star in 1993.

O'Loughlin Gaels is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the St. John’s parish of Kilkenny city, County Kilkenny, Ireland.

Conahy Shamrocks is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the small parish of Conahy, in County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1886, and is therefore one of the oldest in the county. Conahy won the 2008 All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling Championship in Croke Park, defeating Moyle Rovers of Tipperary. Conahy club member, and then president of the GAA, Nickey Brennan presented the cup to his home club. The club won the All-Ireland Junior title again in 2020.

Patsy Moran was an Irish hurler who played for club Kilkenny Championship clubs Muckalee-Ballyfoyle Rangers and St Martin's. He played at senior level for the Kilkenny county team for a brief period, during which time he usually lined out as a centre-forward.
