Star Search Croatia (Croatian : Hrvatska traži zvijezdu) Season 1 was the first season of the second Croatian version of Pop Idol . It was aired in 2009.

Auditions were about to be held in the four biggest cities of the country: Zagreb, Rijeka, Osijek and Split. The competitors are judged by Croatian musicians Tony Cetinski, Jelena Radan and Goran Lisica Fox.

Antonija Blaće, famous for participating and hosting the Croatian Big Brother edition is the host of the competition which makes her the first person to host the two local versions of these franchises.

Bojan Jambrošić won the show on June 19, 2009 ahead of the favoured Zoran Mišić.

Croatia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Vjerujem u ljubav" written by Dado Topić. The song was performed by the band Dragonfly featuring Dado Topić. The Croatian broadcaster Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) organised the national final Dora 2007 to select the Croatian entry for the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland. Thirty-two entries competed in the national final which consisted of three shows: two semi-finals and a final. Eight entries qualified from each semi-final on 1 and 2 March 2007 to compete in the final on 3 March 2007. In the final, "Vjerujem u ljubav" performed by Dragonfly featuring Dado Topić was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from a five-member jury panel and a public televote.

Croatia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Romanca" written by Miran Hadži Veljković. The song was performed by the band Kraljevi ulice and 75 Cents. The Croatian broadcaster Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) organised the national final Dora 2008 to select the Croatian entry for the 2008 contest in Belgrade, Serbia. A total of twenty-four entries competed in the national final which consisted of two shows: a semi-final and a final. In the semi-final on 22 February 2008, six entries qualified to compete in the final on 23 February 2008 alongside ten pre-qualified songs. In the final, "Romanca" performed by Kraljevi ulice and 75 Cents was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from a five-member jury panel and a public televote.

Showtime is a Croatian show similar to Pop Idol. The show started in the fall of summer 2007 when auditions were held in Osijek, Rijeka, Split and Zagreb. Out of more than 1,000 auditioners, 200 made it through to the next round, in which the judges picked the Top 22. All of the semi-finalists were called to Zagreb for the Piano Round, in which the judges decided on the Top 16 - 8 male and 8 female contestants. The format in the finals was as following: All of the contestants would perform, the judges would give their marks to each contestant and then the judges' marks would combine with public vote giving two contestants who pulled in the lowest overall score and who had to leave the competition. This format was used all the way to Top 6, when only contestant left the show. The following week, Top 5, one more contestant left the show, leaving 4 finalists who competed in the 4-way Finale. 16-year-old Franka Batelić won the competition.

The sixth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar was aired on German channel RTL from January to May 2009. The season's winner, Daniel Schuhmacher, was awarded a contract with Sony BMG. Bojan Jambrošić, is a Croatian pop singer who in 2009 won the first season of talent show Hrvatska traži zvijezdu, the Croatian version of Idol series. After his win, he was signed to Dallas Records. The same year, he released his debut album Bolji od ljubavi. He also took part in season 5 of Ples sa zvijezdama, the Croatian version of Dancing with the Stars aired on HRT1. His partner was Martina Bastić. They finished third overall out of eight dancing couples. He sang the theme song for TV series Ruža vjetrova, until the show stopped using it in the 160th episode of season 1.

You are a Top Model Is a Russian reality TV show based on America's Next Top Model by Tyra Banks, it is the third installment of the show after You are a supermodel (2004–2007) and Top Model po-russki (2011–2014).
