William Jennings Jefferson is an American former politician from Louisiana whose career ended after his corruption scandal and conviction. He served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for nine terms from 1991 to 2009 as a member of the Democratic Party. He represented Louisiana's 2nd congressional district,which includes much of the greater New Orleans area. He was elected as the state's first black congressman since the end of Reconstruction.

John Collins-Muhammad,Jr.,is an American activist and politician from the state of Missouri. He served on the Board of Alderman of the City of St. Louis representing the 21st Ward where he represented portions of North City. Collins-Muhammad was elected to his first term in April 2017 at the age of 25,which makes him the youngest person ever to be elected and the first Muslim ever elected to the position of Alderman. He was re-elected in April 2021 garnishing nearly 63% of the vote in his ward. He resigned in May 2022. Although he was a member of the Democratic Party,he was a frequent critic of the party.
