Redcar is a seaside town on the Yorkshire Coast in the Redcar and Cleveland unitary authority. It is in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire,England,and is located 7 miles (11 km) east of Middlesbrough.
Cleveland Police is a territorial police force in England responsible for the policing the boroughs of Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland in North Yorkshire and Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees in County Durham within North East England. The force is overseen by the Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner. Since 2022,the chief constable has been Mark Webster.

Ronald William Ball is a former Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC),and the first person to hold the post. At the time of his election he was the only independent PCC not to have a background in policing. After a four-decade long career in aviation as an airline pilot on both commercial and cargo flights he was elected to the newly created office of Police and Crime Commissioner on 15 November 2012. One of his first acts in the post was to endorse an alliance with a neighbouring police force aimed at pooling resources and reducing overall costs. Although his role was a non-operational one,he requested a review of a police investigation into a motoring accident that left several people injured,citing public concerns over the incident. After it emerged that police officers who held a meeting with former Conservative Chief Whip Andrew Mitchell following his involvement in the Plebgate affair had not given a proper account of their conversation,Ball became caught up in the affair after criticising the findings of the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) which recommended the officers be disciplined. Ball did not contest the 2016 election for the post,and was succeeded by Philip Seccombe of the Conservative Party.
The 2015 Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council election took place on 7 May 2015 to elect members of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections,as well as the 2015 General Election.

Matthew Richard Scott is an English politician,and the current Police and Crime Commissioner for Kent,representing the Conservative Party. He was elected to the post on 5 May 2016 and re-elected in 2021 and in 2024. Before his election to the role of police and crime commissioner he worked for Conservative MP David Evennett as his office manager,and served as a councillor in Bexley from 2006 to 2010. Scott,whose father and brother have both been serving police officers,was chosen as Kent Conservatives' PCC candidate in October 2015.
Jason Ablewhite is the former Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire (PCC),representing the Conservative Party. He is also a former Huntingdonshire district councillor for St Ives. He was elected to the PCC post in the 2016 election,succeeding the previous incumbent,Graham Bright. Ablewhite was elected as a Conservative councillor in St Ives in 2005,and was Conservative leader of the district council for five years before standing down in 2015 to take up the role of PCC.
Hardyal Dhindsa is a British politician,and the former Police and Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire,representing the Labour Party. He was elected to the post on 5 May 2016,succeeding the previous incumbent,Alan Charles. He was defeated by the Conservative Party candidate Angelique Foster in the 2021 election.
Alison Selina Hernandez is a British politician,and the current Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon and Cornwall,representing the Conservative Party. She was elected to the post on 5 May 2016,succeeding Tony Hogg. She was re-elected in 2021.
Michael Veale was the Chief Constable of Cleveland Police in northeast England until his resignation in January 2019. From 2015 until 2018 he was Chief Constable of Wiltshire Police,the force responsible for policing Wiltshire and Swindon in the southwest of England. He came to national prominence in 2017 when Wiltshire Police presented the findings of its investigation into alleged sexual abuse by former prime minister Edward Heath.
Elections of police and crime commissioners in England and Wales were held on 6 May 2021,on the same day as the Senedd election in Wales and the local elections in England. This was the third time police and crime commissioner elections have been held. The elections were originally due to take place in May 2020 but were postponed by 12 months in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Turnout was an average of 34.1% across the elections,with Wales having much higher turnout mainly due to the simultaneous Senedd election held across Wales,whereas only parts of England had simultaneous local elections.
The 2019 Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council election took place on 2 May 2019 to elect members of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections.
Angelique Foster is a British politician who was elected Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner in 2021.
Donna Jones is a British Conservative Party politician who has been the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner since 2021. She was the youngest member of the judiciary in England and Wales when appointed to be a magistrate in 2005.
Luke Myer is a British Labour politician serving as Member of Parliament (MP) for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland since 2024.
