Steven Goldman is an American sports writer on Major League Baseball.

Career

Goldman began his career doing profiles for Yankees Magazine, a writing job that eventually led to the creation of one of the first online Yankees blogs, "The Pinstriped Bible" in 1999. The blog eventually became affiliated with the Yankees' YES Network website, as both and the original title and "The Pinstriped Blog". Goldman was also hired by Baseball Prospectus to write for them, and he edited or co-edited several volumes of the Baseball Prospectus annual. He eventually became the Editor-in-Chief of BP and wrote the "You Could Look it Up" columns for the site during the season. [1] In December 2011, he was selected as a BP representative in the Baseball Writers' Association of America. [2] Goldman left both BP and YES Network in 2012 to join colleague Rob Neyer at the sports site SB Nation as managing editor for baseball. Goldman left SB Nation at the end of 2014.

Books

Goldman edited BP's books Mind Game [3] (2005 — ISBN   0-7611-4018-2) and It Ain't Over 'til It's Over (2007 – ISBN   0-465-00284-6), as well as authored his own book Forging Genius: The Making of Casey Stengel (2005 — ISBN   1-57488-873-0) (2006 — ISBN   1-57488-874-9). He also co-edited the 2006, 2007 and 2008 editions of the Baseball Prospectus annual.

He started his career working for Bill James and STATS and then joined ESPN.com as a columnist and blogger from 1996 to 2011. He was National Baseball Editor for SB Nation from 2011 to 2014, and Senior Baseball Editor for FoxSports.com in 2015 and '16.

YES Network American regional sports network

The Yankee Entertainment and Sports Network (YES) is an American pay television regional sports network that is owned by Yankee Global Enterprises, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Amazon, and The Blackstone Group, RedBird Capital and Mubadala Investment Company, which each own 13%. Primarily serving New York City, New York and the surrounding metropolitan area, it broadcasts a variety of sports events, as well as magazine, documentary and discussion programs; however, its main emphasis is focused on games and team-related programs involving the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball, the NBA's Brooklyn Nets, the WNBA's New York Liberty and New York City FC of Major League Soccer.

Dan Shaughnessy American sportswriter

Dan Shaughnessy is an American sports writer. He has covered the Boston Red Sox for the Boston Globe since 1981. In 2016, he was given the J.G. Taylor Spink Award by the Baseball Hall of Fame. Shaughnessy is often referred to by his nickname "Shank," given by the 1980s Boston Celtics team for the often unflattering and critical nature of his articles.

Baseball Prospectus organization

Baseball Prospectus (BP) is an organization that publishes a website, BaseballProspectus.com, devoted to the sabermetric analysis of baseball. BP has a staff of regular columnists and provides advanced statistics as well as player and team performance projections on the site. Since 1996 the BP staff has also published a Baseball Prospectus annual as well as several other books devoted to baseball analysis and history.

Cecilia Tan is a writer, editor, sexuality activist, and founder of Circlet Press, the first press devoted primarily to erotic science fiction and fantasy. She lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She also writes about baseball, but is not to be confused with a writer of the same name who specializes in Asian cookbooks.

Murray Chass is an American baseball blogger. He previously wrote for The New York Times and before that the Associated Press on baseball and sports legal and labor relations. SB Nation is a sports blogging network owned by Vox Media. It was co-founded by Tyler Bleszinski and Markos Moulitsas in 2005. The blog from which the network formed was started by Bleszinski as Athletics Nation in 2003, and focused solely on the Oakland Athletics. It has since expanded to cover sports franchises on a national scale, including all Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association, National Football League, and National Hockey League teams, as well as college and soccer teams and professional wrestling, totaling over 300 community sites.
