Still Serious is the second solo studio album by American rapper Big Mike. It was released on April 8, 1997, via Rap-A-Lot Records. Production of the album was handled by Mike Dean, Mike B., Loranzo Samuels, Anthony Dent and N.O. Joe. This album proved to be the most successful of Big Mike's solo releases, peaking at #16 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

The Pharcyde is an American alternative hip hop group, formed in 1989, from South Central Los Angeles. The original four members of the group are Imani, Slimkid3, Bootie Brown, and Fatlip. DJ Mark Luv was the group's first disc jockey (DJ), followed by producer J-Swift and then J Dilla. The double-disc album featured a large selection of guest appearances, including Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Mariah Carey, The Marley Brothers, Big Pun, Fat Joe, Cuban Link, Gangsta Boo, E-40, 8 Ball & MJG, Kurupt, Treach and Snoop Dogg. My Homies is the fifth studio album by American rapper Scarface. The album was released March 3, 1998, by Rap-A-Lot Records and Virgin Records. The album features production by Mike Dean, Mr. Lee, N.O. Joe, Scarface and Tone Capone. It peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and at number 4 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum by the RIAA on April 6, 1998. Michael Barnett, better known by his stage name Big Mike, is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. He is the oldest of nine children. He was originally a member of the rap duo Convicts with Houston-based rapper Mr. 3-2. This album would be the first of many releases Mike would put out on Rap-A-Lot Records. Following the release of the eponymous Convicts, Big Mike impressed the heads of Death Row Records and almost signed with that label before he was called by James Prince and asked to replace Willie D who left the Geto Boys. Big Mike became a part of the group on its 1993 album Till Death Do Us Part. When Willie D rejoined the group on its next album, Big Mike left. Mike has released five solo albums thus far: Somethin' Serious in 1994, Still Serious in 1997, Hard to Hit in 1999, Keep It Playa in 2006, and Serious As Can Be in 2009. Still Serious was his highest-charting album, peaking at #16 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Somethin' Serious sold 500,000 copies and is his only Gold-certified album.
