Stonegard was a Norwegian heavy metal band from Oslo. They have two official releases in the form of full-length CDs, Arrows and From Dusk till Doom . The band has been inactive since October 2008.
The band released their first CD Arrows on Candlelight Records in 2006. [1] They received excellent reviews from national newspapers television and radio in Norway.[ citation needed ]
When Stonegard was but one of many bands trying to make it, one of their means to promote themselves were through the Norwegian website NRK Urørt which helps unsigned bands, singers and musicians. Their page was quite popular, and it helped them make a name for themselves. The Stonegard page is now taken down, as they are no longer an unsigned band.
Their motto is "Mer metal til folket", which means "More metal to the people". Stonegard is also strongly against drugs.
Several Stonegard music videos have run on the popular Norwegian TV show Svisj and the pay-channel ZTV. From Arrows, the songs "Barricades", "Arrows" and "Hunter" received air time throughout 2005, as did From Dusk till Doom , the title track of their second album, in 2008.
Emperor is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1991, regarded as highly influential by critics and emerging black metal bands. The group split up in 2001, but reunited from 2005 to 2007 for a few festival dates and brief US tours, and again reunited in 2013 to 2014. Emperor reformed for the third time in 2016. The group was founded by Ihsahn (guitar/vocal) and Samoth.
Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk is the second studio album by Norwegian black metal band Emperor. It was released on 8 July 1997 through Candlelight Records and Century Black.
Disembowelment, often styled as diSEMBOWELMENT, was an Australian death-doom band that formed in November 1989 featuring Renato Gallina on guitar and vocals, and Paul Mazziotta on drums. In early 1991 Jason Kells joined on lead guitar and at the end of that year the group's line-up was completed by Matthew Skarajew on bass guitar. In 1992 they issued an extended play, Dusk, on Relapse Records and followed with a studio album, Transcendence into the Peripheral, in 1993. They disbanded shortly thereafter – never having performed live. AllMusic's Eduardo Rivadavia described them as "[s]till revered in underground circles as doom-grind pioneers ... [their works] remain genre classics".
Orchid is the debut studio album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth, released on 15 May 1995 in Europe by Candlelight Records, and on 24 June 1997 in the United States by Century Black. It was reissued in 2000 with one bonus track called "Into the Frost of Winter", an early unproduced rehearsal recording by the band. The recording sessions occurred at the old Unisound studio, in Finspång with production by Opeth alongside Dan Swanö. The band did not record a demo to get signed to a record label. Lee Barrett, the founder of Candlelight Records, enjoyed an Opeth rehearsal tape, and decided to sign the band. The album received critical acclaim.
Funeral are a Norwegian funeral doom band formed in 1991 by Thomas Angell and Anders Eek; soon afterward, Einar Frederiksen joined as bassist and songwriter and Christian Loos joined as guitarist. They are known as one of the pioneers of the funeral doom genre.
Folkémon is a studio album by the British folk metal band Skyclad. It is the last album the band recorded with Martin Walkyier as vocalist. As is normal with the band's works under Walkyier, the album's lyrical themes deal with politics, environmentalism, spirituality and personal issues.
Battalions of Fear is the debut album by German power metal band Blind Guardian, released in 1988. The album is a raw and unpolished speed metal effort that touches on thrash metal. It lacks many of the stylistic flourishes that would mark the band's music in later years, focusing more on speed and aggression. The opening track "Majesty" remains a fan favorite and is often featured in the band's live performances. This album was remastered, remixed and re-released on 15 June 2007, with the whole first demo tape, Symphonies of Doom, of the band as part of the bonus tracks. The album was again re-released as part of the A Traveler's Guide to Space and Time boxset with minor adjustments to the mixing and with new mastering.
Scream, Dracula, Scream! is an album by the San Diego, California rock band Rocket from the Crypt, released in 1995 by Interscope Records. It was the band's first major-label release. Music videos were filmed for the singles "On a Rope," "Born in '69" and "Young Livers," and the band embarked on extensive tours of the US, UK and Europe. Forest Stream is a symphonic black / doom / gothic metal band formed in Chernogolovka, Russia in 1995. The band draws inspiration from long and harsh Russian winters. Stylistically, the band's epic sound combines the atmosphere of the British doom metal of the 1990s and of the Norwegian black metal. The band's lyrics revolve around the themes of sorrow and hopelessness. Their first album, Tears of Mortal Solitude was released in early 2003 and was warmly received by the critics. In May 2007, the band went on their first international tour in Ukraine. In September 2007, the band was signed by Candlelight Records and recording for their second album, The Crown of Winter, commenced soon after. The band are currently believed to be unsigned with no mention of a new album, but are still active.
Monument Bineothan is the first studio release by Norwegian metalcore/mathcore band Benea Reach. It was released in Europe in July 2006 on Tabu Records. It was released in the U.S. on 20 March 2007 through Candlelight Records. The album was nominated for the 35th annual Spellemannprisen in the Metal category.
Assassins: Black Meddle, Part 1 is the fourth full-length album by American band Nachtmystium. It was released via Century Media Records in the United States on June 10, 2008, and by Candlelight Records in Europe on June 23, 2008. The record was recorded in December 2007 at Sanford Parker's Volume Studios. The album contains such experimental musical flirtations as saxophones and other non-black metal musical "meddling".

Necronautical are an English black metal band from North-West England, consisting of Naut, Carcarrion, Anchorite, and Slugh (drums). Necronautical have been described as possessing a "distinctive amalgam of extreme, melodic, aggressive sounds and exploratory concepts."
