The Sudbury Arts Council is a non-profit organization based in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. It was created in 1974 as the Sudbury Arts Festival Association, and changed its name in June 1988.
The volunteer board and membership work to promote the arts in the City of Greater Sudbury.
The Sudbury Arts Council was instrumental in establishing Cinefest, the Artists’ Studio Tour and the Sudbury Writers’ Guild. In June 2013, SAC held a literary festival WORDSTOCK SUDBURY. Special guest was Tomson Highway. This event has since become a successful annual event managed by an independent board of directors.
In 2014, the Sudbury Arts Council took a lead role in establishing the Celebration of the Arts, a gala event that honours artists and raises money for artists’ bursaries. It took place May 1, 2014. Visual artist Heather Topp and writer Matthew Heiti were honoured. The event ran annually until 2020 and provided about $60,000 in support to local artists. Financial support came from generous community sponsors.
Rendezvous North, Oct. 14 and 15 2022, organized by the Sudbury Arts Council (SAC) and the City of Greater Sudbury, offered workshops and networking experiences to explore innovative ideas for post-COVID 19 challenges. More than 40 presenters shared their experiences with artists and art organization representatives from across Northern Ontario.
Presidents of the arts council have included Laurence Steven, Jan Carrie Steven, Jon Butler, Ed Tate, Will Morin, Dereck Young, Gord Harris, John Lindsay, Vicki Gilhula, Andrew Boyd, and Linda Cartier.

Sudbury, officially the City of Greater Sudbury, is the largest city in Northern Ontario by population, with a population of 166,004 at the 2021 Canadian Census. Sudbury Secondary School is a high school in the downtown of Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, well known for its Arts Education Program, featuring theatre arts, dance, vocal music, instrumental music, keyboard, media arts and visual art. Sudbury Secondary School produces a mainstage musical each year, as well as various other plays, concerts, art exhibits, and dance shows throughout the year. Sudbury Secondary School's F.W. Sheridan Auditorium also plays host to many performances by various organizations, groups, and out-of-town experiences. The school was created by combining the Sudbury High School (SHS) with Sheridan Technical School in 1974. Up until that time the two schools shared the same campus but operated independently with two different student streams and a strong rivalry. SHS students were all streamed in a 5 year program aimed at University enrollment. Most went on to University. In 1973 SHS students protested the plans to amalgamate the schools and walked out to no avail.

Houston International Festival, also known as iFest, was a contemporary, multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural arts and music festival held annually in Houston, Texas. This North American festival takes place every April on 16 acres (65,000 m2) in downtown Houston's parks and plazas. By city ordinance this annual 10-day event is Houston's official city celebration of the visual and performing arts. According to an article in the Houston Chronicle, Ifest announced in June 2014 that it was seeking Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, making it clear that the 2014 fest would be the last ever festival.
