Suzanne "Sue" Roces [1] (born January 17, 1985), [2] is a Filipino former volleyball player. [3]

Career

College

Sue Roces attended the University of the East for her collegiate studies and played the UE Lady Warriors women's volleyball team in the UAAP. She was named Rookie of the Year in 2002 in Season 65. [4] She also competed in beach volleyball, helping UE clinch a silver medal in UAAP Season 69 for the 2006–07 academic year. [2] She also played for UE at the Shakey's V-League in 2006. [5]

Club

Shakey's V-League/PVL

After playing for the UE Lady Warriors at the Shakey's V-League in 2006, Roces has also played for other colleges as a guest player. In 2007, she played for the University of Santo Tomas. The following season, she competed for San Sebastian College – Recoletos helping the team win the season's 2nd Conference and with her being named the Finals MVP. She was also named the conference MVP for the 2010 season's 1st Conference. In 2012, Roces won the Open Conference with San Sebastian. She also played for Ateneo de Manila University in the same year, helping the squad win the 1st Conference. [5]

She has also competed for non-collegiate sides in the Shakey's V-League. With the PLDT Home Ultera, Roces helped the team win the Open and the Reinforced Open Conferences in 2015. The following year Roces joined the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders. [5]

Roces' last club was with the Perlas Spikers. She played from 2017 when the V-League was renamed as the Premier Volleyball League until 2021 during the Open Conference. She decided to retire from competitive volleyball in January 2022. [2]

AVC Club Championship

Roces was part of the non-league PLDT Home TVolution team which competed at the 2014 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship. [6]

National team

Roces has represented the Philippines internationally. She was part of the Philippine women's national team roster which took part in the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship Asian qualifiers. She also played with the national team at the 2015 VTV International Women's Volleyball Cup. [2] As part of the Philippine national beach volleyball team, she competed at the 2008 Asian Beach Games and was paired with Michelle Carolino. [7] The pair managed to advance to the round of 16. [2]

Personal life

Since 2020, Roces is a relationship with Sarah Asido, who is a host and beauty queen who represented the Philippines in the 2018 Ms. United Continents. [8]

Michele Theresa Imperial Gumabao is a Filipino volleyball player and beauty pageant titleholder. She is currently signed to the Creamline Cool Smashers of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), and has previously played for teams in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL). She was named "Best Opposite Spiker" five times in her professional career and was the Finals MVP in the 2016 Shakey's V-League Reinforced Conference.


The PLDT Home Fibr Hitters is a professional men's volleyball team owned by PLDT. It was established in 2013 and originally consisted of men's and women's teams. In 2018, the women's team became merged with the Smart Giga Hitters. The men's team has been playing in the Spikers' Turf since October 2018.

Rachel Anne Lopez Daquis is a Filipino volleyball player. She graduated from the Far Eastern University where she took up Business Management. She was also the team captain of the PLDT HOME TVolution women's team that played in the 2014 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship. She is a former team captain of the FEU Lady Tamaraws in her collegiate years, where she was given the title "Queen Tamaraw". She played in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) with the Cignal HD Spikers and is the PSL's brand ambassador for 2018 to 2019. In 2020, her team Cignal HD Spikers transfers to Premier Volleyball League.

Aiza Maizo-Pontillas is a Filipina professional volleyball player. She was a former member and team captain of the UST Golden Tigresses, and a member of the Philippines women's national volleyball team. She led the España-based squad to its 16th and, as of 2018, latest championship in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) league. She was a Shakey's V-League (SVL) three-time Finals and two-time Season Most Valuable Player. Maizo is known for bagging several best-of awards in almost all volleyball skill departments in UAAP and SVL, excluding setting and digging. She is also known as the first Filipina in the entire franchise of SVL to take both Finals and Season MVP in a single conference twice.

Myla Pablo is a Filipino volleyball player. She was part of the Philippines women's national volleyball team in 2015.

The 2021 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference was the tenth conference of the Premier Volleyball League and its first conference as a professional league. The conference started on July 17, 2021 and ended on August 13, 2021, at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte in a bubble. The PVL has been approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to begin team practices to be followed by the official start of the 2021 season.

The Unlimited Athletics Club Power Hitters are a professional volleyball club which was set to play in the Premier Volleyball League.

Roselyn Doria is a Filipina volleyball player. She currently plays for the Cignal HD Spikers volleyball team. She is a member of the Philippines women's national volleyball team that competed in the 2019 ASEAN Grand Prix.

George Pascua is a Filipino volleyball coach who is the head coach of the PLDT High Speed Hitters of the Premier Volleyball League. He is also a longtime coach of the Far Eastern University's women's volleyball team and a former player of the university's men's team.
