Sugar Valley [1] is an unincorporated community in Gordon County, Georgia, United States, northwest of Calhoun and east of Horn Mountain Ridge. SR 136 runs through the center of the town.
A post office called Sugar Valley has been in operation since 1844. [2] The community may have been named after a grove of sugar maple trees near the original town site. [3]
The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Sugar Valley as a town in 1887. [4] The town's municipal charter was repealed in 1995. [5]
Sugar Valley is located near the northwest corner of Gordon County. Nearby is the Oostanaula River. Three miles to the west of Sugar Valley at the extreme edge of Gordon County is the Ridge and Valley region of Georgia where Horn Mountain separates Gordon and Floyd County. The mountain reaches over 1,800 feet in elevation compared to 600 feet in Sugar Valley.

Missionary Ridge is a geographic feature in Chattanooga, Tennessee, site of the Battle of Missionary Ridge, a battle in the American Civil War, fought on November 25, 1863. Union forces under Maj. Gens. Ulysses S. Grant, William T. Sherman, and George H. Thomas routed Confederate forces under General Braxton Bragg and lifted the siege of the city.

Big Sugar Creek is a 47-mile-long (76 km) waterway in the Ozark Mountains of southwest Missouri. The creek starts near the Arkansas state line. Big Sugar starts from three tributaries. One flows north from Garfield, Arkansas, and one, west near Seligman, Missouri, and another, south from Washburn, Missouri. Big Sugar flows west down Sugar Creek Valley, where in the Jacket community it is joined by Otter Creek, from Pea Ridge, Arkansas.
State Route 136 (SR 136) is a 136.380-mile-long (219.482 km) state highway that travels west-to-east through portions of Dade, Walker, Gordon, Murray, Gilmer, Pickens, Dawson, and Hall counties in the northwestern and north-central parts of the U.S. state of Georgia. The highway travels from its western terminus at SR 71 at the Alabama state line, west of Trenton, to its eastern terminus at SR 60 north-northwest of Gainesville.
Hazel Creek is a tributary stream of the Little Tennessee River in the southwestern Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. The creek's bottomlands were home to several pioneer Appalachian communities and logging towns before its incorporation into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Hazel Creek is now a back country campsite and historical area.
The Pocket is a basin in northern Floyd County, Georgia. The valley was named as such due to how Horn Mountain curved in a way that it formed a pocket.
Taylor Ridge is the most northwestern ridge in the state of Georgia within the Ridge and Valley physiographic region and is approximately 40 miles (64 km) in length. To the west the ridge is bordered by the Cumberland Plateau region and to the north Taylor Ridge becomes White Oak Mountain at Ringgold Gap although technically part of the same ridge. The western foothills of Taylor Ridge are also the western border of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Taylor Ridge is part of the Armuchee Ridges which also consist of Little Sand Mountain, Dicks Ridge, Johns Ridge, Horn Mountain and Rocky Face. Taylor Ridge runs south to north through Chattooga, Walker, Whitfield, and Catoosa counties along the towns of Summerville, Trion, Lafayette and Ringgold. The highpoint of the ridge is 1,665 feet (507 m) where the ridge buckles with Dicks Ridge. An area labeled high point is 1,432 feet (436 m) at the ridges southern terminus along GA highway 100.
Cloudland is an unincorporated community in western Chattooga County in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is located at an elevation of 1,498 feet atop Lookout Mountain, a broad ridge that occupies northwestern Georgia and northeastern Alabama. The Girl Scouts' Camp Juliette Low, named for founder Juliette Gordon Low, is located just northeast of town.
Nescopeck Mountain is a ridge in Columbia County and Luzerne County, in Pennsylvania, in the United States. Its elevation is 1,594 feet (486 m) above sea level. The ridge is a forested ridge, with at least two types of forest and two systems of vernal pools. It is a very long and unbroken ridge with two water gaps: one carved by Catawissa Creek and one carved by Nescopeck Creek. This later gap was exploited as a transportation corridor with the construction of the Lehigh & Susquehanna Turnpike between the respective frontier communities at Lausanne Landing and Nescopeck in 1805 connecting the newly developing Wyoming Valley with Philadelphia and the Delaware River valley; cutting off over 100 miles between Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre. Today's Route PA 93 derives from this historic pack mule road.
