Sujibala is an Indian actress who predominantly works in Tamil films alongside a few Kannada and Malayalam films.

Career

Sujibala played the secondary lead opposite Manikandan in Kicha Vayasu 16 (2005) and made her lead debut with the Kannada film Mr. Bakra (2005). [1] [2] She notably played a minor role as the sister of Malavika's character in Chandramukhi (2005). [3] She starred in lead roles in several low-key Tamil films such as Vanjagan (2006) and Don Chera (2006). [4] [5] She made her Malayalam debut with Gopalapuranam (2008) and a critic noted that "Sujibala couldn't have chosen a worse debut vehicle in Malayalam". [6] Regarding her performance in Iyakkam (2008), a critic wrote that she was lost in the contrived screenplay. [7] She played a dhobi worker in Ayyavazhi (2008). [8] She also was a semi-finalist on the second season of the game show Maanada Mayilada (2008) with Lokesh. [9] Sujibala played supporting roles in Goripalayam (2010), Muthukku Muthaaga (2011), and Kazhugu (2012) as the wife of Karunas' character. [3] [10]

Personal life

While working on the film Unmai (2012), the director P. Ravikumar proposed to her and threatened to kill himself if she declined. They got engaged and Sujibala was hesitant to marry him, so she attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills. [11] [12] [13]

In 2016, she married Pranesh, a man from Ooty working in a restaurant in Qatar. [14] [15]

Kazhugu (transl. Eagle) is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language comedy thriller film written and directed by newcomer Sathyasiva, starring Krishna and Bindu Madhavi. The film, produced by Krishna's father K. K. Sekhar along with K. S. Madhubala, features music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The story revolves around four persons, referred to as "Kazhugu", who recover the bodies of suicide victims who jump off a cliff. The film, based on real-life incidents, has been shot in real locations, including Kodaikanal, Theni, and Munnar. It had been in making since late 2010 and eventually released on 16 March 2012, to mixed reviews and became a sleeper hit.

Miruthan (transl. Zombie) is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language action horror film written and directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan, starring Ravi Mohan, Lakshmi Menon and Anikha Surendran. D. Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language comedy thriller film produced, written and directed by R. Parthiban, which stars himself alongside Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Parvathy Nair. P. Jayadevi was an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter and actress who worked on Tamil films. Regarded as one of the first female directors in the Tamil film industry, Jayadevi was predominantly active in the 1980s and 1990s.
