The Tenang state by-election was a state by-election that was held on 30 January 2011 in the state of Johor,Malaysia. The nomination of candidates was done on 22 January 2011. The Tenang parliamentary seat fell vacant when its state assemblyman Datuk Sulaiman Taha of United Malays National Organisation died due to a blood infection and other complications due to diabetes. Previously Sulaiman won the Tenang seat with a 2,492-vote majority,beating PAS' Mohd Saim Siran at the 2008 Malaysian general elections. The state assembly seat has some 14,511 voters consisting of 48.9% Malays,38.3% Chinese,12% Indians and 0.9% other races. PAS has picked as its candidate Normala Sudirman,a school teacher,while Barisan Nasional has picked Mohd Azahar.

Zainon binti Sulaiman,sometimes known as Zainon Munshi Sulaiman because her father was a language teacher or "munshi",also called Hajjah Zain or Ibu Zain,was a Malaysian educator and politician. Born in Malacca,the sixth of eight children,she received a good education through the efforts of her father,Munshi Sulaiman. In 1909 she became a pupil at the Methodist Girls' School,Tengkera,going on to Tengkera School for her secondary education in 1913. He has served as the State Chairman of BN of Johor since 2018 and Division Chairman of UMNO of Pontian since 2001. He served as the State Chairman of UMNO of Johor from 2018 to his removal from the position in January 2023.
The 2022 Johor state election,formally the 15th Johor general election,took place on 12 March 2022. The election was to elect 56 members of the 15th Johor State Legislative Assembly. The previous assembly was dissolved on 22 January 2022.
