The Nine Nations of North America is a 1981 book by Joel Garreau, in which the author suggests that North America can be divided into nine nations, which have distinctive economic and cultural features. He also argues that conventional national and state borders are largely artificial and irrelevant, and that his "nations" provide a more accurate way of understanding the true nature of North American society. The work has been called "a classic text on the current regionalization of North America".

USA Volleyball (USAV) is a non-profit organization which is recognized as the national governing body of volleyball in the United States by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). It is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and was founded by the YMCA of the USA. The organization is responsible for selecting and supporting US national teams that compete in FIVB-sanctioned international volleyball and beach volleyball competitions such as the Olympic Summer Games. USA Volleyball is also charged with fostering the development of the sport of volleyball within the United States through involvement with its forty Regional Volleyball Associations (RVAs).

Formed in 1960, NACA links the higher education and entertainment communities in a business and learning partnership, creating educational and business opportunities for students and professional staff.
The Legends Classic is an annual, early-season, college basketball tournament which started in 2007 and takes place at the beginning of the college basketball season in November. Eight teams compete in the Legends Classic, which has four of the top programs from the most prestigious conferences in the country tip-off the season with Regional Round games played on their home courts. Four teams then go to New York City – at the Barclays Center – to face each other for the Legends Classic championship. The remainder of the field participates in a round-robin series at one subregional site. Every participating team is guaranteed four games. Games have been played at Barclays Center since 2012, The 2011 edition was played at Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey), 2009 and 2010 were played at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.), and 2007 and 2008 were played at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.).
The 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament involved 68 teams playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the men's National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college basketball national champion for the 2015–16 season. The 78th edition of the Tournament began on March 15, 2016, and concluded with the championship game on April 4 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
