The Sunday Times Rich List 2018 is the 30th annual survey of the wealthiest people resident in the United Kingdom, published by The Sunday Times on 13 May 2018. [1]

Contents

The List was edited by Robert Watts who succeeded long-term compiler Philip Beresford last year.

The List was previewed in the previous week's Sunday Times and widely reported by other media. [2]

The list is updated annually in April and published as a magazine supplement by British national Sunday newspaper The Sunday Times since 1989. Forbes 400 Annual list of wealthiest Americans

The Forbes 400 or 400 Richest Americans is a list published by Forbes magazine of the wealthiest 400 American citizens who own assets in the U.S., ranked by net worth. The 400 was started by Malcolm Forbes in 1982 and the list is published annually around September. Peter W. Bernstein and Annalyn Swan describe the Forbes 400 as capturing "a period of extraordinary individual and entrepreneurial energy, a time unlike the extended postwar years, from 1945 to 1982, when American society emphasized the power of corporations." Bernstein and Swan also describe it as representing "a powerful argument – and sometimes a dream – about the social value of wealth in contemporary America."

Lakshmi Mittal British-Indian steel magnate

Lakshmi Niwas Mittal is an Indian steel magnate, based in the United Kingdom. He is the Executive Chairman of ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steelmaking company, as well as Chairman of stainless steel manufacturer Aperam. Mittal owns 38% of ArcelorMittal and holds a 20% stake in EFL Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken is a Dutch billionaire businesswoman, and the owner of a 25% controlling interest in the world's second-largest brewer, Heineken N.V. She is the richest person in the Netherlands, with a net worth of $16.7 billion as of May 2021, according to the Forbes billionaires list.

David Alliance, Baron Alliance, CBE is an Iranian-British businessman and Liberal Democrat politician of Iranian origin.

Gopichand Parmanand Hinduja is an Indian-born British billionaire businessman, the co-chairman of the Hinduja Group. As of May 2020, together with his brother Srichand he is the UK's second richest man. Since the 1990s, he has been consistently ranked among the UK and Asia's wealthiest people. In May 2017, Hinduja topped the Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated wealth of GBP 16.2 billion. Based on the rich list compiled by Asian Media & Marketing Group, Hinduja's wealth is estimated at GBP 19 billion. The Forbes List in March 2018 ranked him and his brother GP as the world's 55th richest billionaire family with an estimated wealth of $19.5 billion.

The Weston family of Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom is a prominent family of businesspeople with global interests primarily in food and clothing businesses. The family operations began with the purchase of a bakery in 1884 by George Weston in the Canadian city of Toronto.

Jim Ratcliffe British chemical engineer turned financier and industrialist

Sir James Arthur Ratcliffe is a Monaco-based British billionaire chemical engineer turned financier and industrialist. Ratcliffe is the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Ineos chemicals group, which he founded in 1998 and of which he still owns two-thirds, and which has been estimated to have a turnover of $15 billion in 2019. He does not have a high public profile, and has been described by The Sunday Times as "publicity shy". As of May 2018, he was the richest person in the UK, with a net worth of £21.05 billion. As of April 2020, Bloomberg Billionaires Index estimated his net worth at $28.2 billion, 55th richest in the world and second in the UK. In September 2020, Ratcliffe officially changed his tax residence from Hampshire to Monaco, a move that it is estimated will save him £4 billion in tax.

Sir Ian Clark Wood, is a Scottish businessman and philanthropist. He is best known for his work in the North Sea oil industry with Wood Group, which he was largely responsible for transforming from a company of modest size, serving a primarily local market, to a large corporation with operations in over 50 countries. He served as Wood Group's chief executive from 1967 to 2006, and as chairman until 2012. Wood is one of Scotland's wealthiest people, with an estimated net worth of around £1.7 billion (2020).

John Stuart Bloor OBE is a British billionaire businessman. His business, Bloor Holdings, owns both Bloor Homes and Triumph Motorcycles.

James Allan McColl OBE is a Monaco-based Scottish businessman and entrepreneur. He is responsible for the development of Clyde Blowers. In 2007, he was placed tenth on the Sunday Times Rich List in Scotland. The Daily Record reported in November 2008 that McColl had overtaken Tom Hunter as "Scotland's richest man" with an estimated fortune of £800million. In 2021, The Sunday Times Rich List estimated his fortune at £1 billion.

The Sunday Times Rich List 2011 is the 23rd annual survey of the wealthiest people in the United Kingdom, published by The Sunday Times on 8 May 2011. Since its earliest inception, the Rich List has been widely previewed in the UK media and extensively covered on the day of publication.

The World's Billionaires is an annual ranking by documented net worth of the wealthiest billionaires in the world, compiled and published in March annually by the American business magazine Forbes. The list was first published in March 1987. The total net worth of each individual on the list is estimated and is cited in United States dollars, based on their documented assets and accounting for debt and other factors. Royalty and dictators whose wealth comes from their positions are excluded from these lists. This ranking is an index of the wealthiest documented individuals, excluding any ranking of those with wealth that is not able to be completely ascertained.
