The Supreme Electoral Council (Spanish : Consejo Supremo Electoral, CSE) is the public body responsible for organizing elections in Nicaragua.

Roberto Rivas Reyes has been president of the CSE since July 2000, [1] though as of January 2018, vice-president Lumberto Campbell functioned as acting head of the organization. [2] Campbell was named to the Council by the National Assembly in 2014. [3]

Previous presidents of the CSE include Mariano Fiallos Oyanguren (1984 to 1996) [4] [5] and Rosa Marina Zelaya (beginning in the 1990s). [6]

General elections were held in Honduras on 29 November 2009, including presidential, parliamentary and local elections. Voters went to the polls to elect:

General elections were held in Nicaragua on 25 February 1990 to elect the President and the members of the National Assembly. The result was a victory for the National Opposition Union (UNO), whose presidential candidate Violeta Chamorro surprisingly defeated incumbent president Daniel Ortega of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN). This led to a historic peaceful and democratic transfer of power in Nicaragua.

General elections were held in Nicaragua on 4 November 1984, to elect a president and parliament. Approximately 1.2 million Nicaraguans voted, representing a 75% turnout, with 94% of eligible voters registered. Impartial observers from international groupings such as the European Economic Community, religious groups sent to monitor the election, and observers from democratic nations such as Canada and the Republic of Ireland concluded that the elections were generally free and fair.

Roberto José Rivas Reyes was a Nicaraguan politician who was President of the Supreme Electoral Council (CSE). Rivas became a CSE magistrate in 1995, and five years later became its president.

Lumberto Ignacio Campbell is a Nicaraguan Sandinista politician. Campbell was born in Bluefields, Nicaragua and was the only Creole guerilla commander in the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), known by the nom de guerre "El Negro". In the 1980s he served as Vice-Minister for the Atlantic Coast. In 2014, the National Assembly named him to the Supreme Electoral Council, where he replaced Emmett Lang as vice-president.

Francisco Obadiah Campbell Hooker is the Nicaraguan Ambassador to the United States. He assumed the post in 2010; prior to that he served as deputy to the Central American Parliament. In March 2022, Campbell was also appointed Nicaraguan ambassador to the Organization of American States; he replaced ambassador Arturo McFields after McFields denounced the administration of President Daniel Ortega as a "dictatorship" following the widespread arrests and prosecution of aspiring 2021 presidential candidates and other opposition figures.

Harold Fernando Rivas Reyes is a Nicaraguan diplomat. He was Ambassador to Costa Rica on behalf of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) government from February 2007 until January 2018.

Carlos Tünnerman Bernheim is a Nicaraguan lawyer, diplomat, government official and educator. He is a former Minister of Education in Nicaragua, serving during the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) government from 1979 to 1984. He next became Nicaragua’s ambassador to the United States and then to the Organization of American States (OAS), from 1984 to 1988.
