The Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) is the body,established under the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance, [1] that oversees electoral matters in Hong Kong. Its main functions include considering or reviewing the boundaries of Legislative Council geographical constituencies and constituencies of the 18 District Councils for the purpose of making recommendations,and overseeing the conduct and supervision of elections and regulating the procedures at an election. It is also responsible for supervision of the registration of electors and the promotional activities relating to registration.
In 1997,the EAC succeeded the former Boundary and Election Commission (Chinese :選區分界及選舉事務委員會),which was established on 23 July 1993. It is headed by a chairman,a position which has always been filled a High Court (formerly known as Supreme Court) judge. The executive body that is responsible for elections is the Registration and Electoral Office (Chinese :選舉事務處),which reports to the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs (the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs before 1 July 2007).

The Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau is a ministerial-level policy bureaux of the Government of Hong Kong responsible for the implementation of the Basic Law, including electoral matters and promotion of equal opportunities and privacy protection. The bureau also functions as the intermediary between the HKSAR Government and the Central People's Government and other Mainland authorities under the principles of "One Country, Two Systems", including the coordination of liaison between the HKSAR Government and Central authorities, promoting regional co-operation initiatives between Hong Kong and the Mainland, and overseeing the operation of offices of the HKSAR Government on the Mainland.
The Transport functional constituency is a functional constituency in the elections for the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. 195 electors are only limited to 201 transport associations.

Tin Hau is one of the 13 constituencies of the Wan Chai District Council of Hong Kong. The seat elects one member of the council every four years. It was first created in Hong Kong district board elections, 1994. The constituency boundary is loosely based on the Tin Hau and Lai Tak Tsuen with estimated population of 15,051. It was transferred to the Wan Chai District in the District Council election in 2015.

A controversy arose during the 2016 Legislative Council election in Hong Kong as the Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) banned six potential localist candidates from running for the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (LegCo). The 2021 Hong Kong Legislative Council election was a general election held on 19 December 2021 for the 7th Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Under the drastic Beijing-imposed electoral overhaul, the total number of seats was increased from 70 to 90 seats, with the directly elected geographical constituencies (GCs) reduced from 35 to 20 seats, the trade-based indirectly elected functional constituencies (FCs) staying at 30, and the additional 40 seats being elected by the 1,500-member Election Committee.

It is also an administrative support organisation of the Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC), which assists the implementation of the statutory rights under the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance.
The 2023 Hong Kong District Council elections are scheduled on 10 December 2023 for all 18 District Councils of Hong Kong. They will be the first local elections after the passage of the national security law, as well as the 2021 and 2023 electoral changes.
