Kwun Tong is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. It is located in Kowloon,and is the easternmost and southernmost district in Kowloon. It had a population of 648,541 in 2016. The district has the second highest population in Hong Kong,after Sha Tin District,while the income is below average. Kwun Tong District borders Sai Kung District to the east,Wong Tai Sin District to the north,and Kowloon City District to the west. To the south is Victoria Harbour,and the Eastern District directly across on Hong Kong Island.
It is the most densely populated district in Hong Kong,at 59,000 per km²,but it is also one of the largest industrial areas in Hong Kong. Kwun Tong District is known for its industry,with factories built during the 1950s;they were mainly located in Kowloon Bay,Kwun Tong,and Yau Tong. Since the relocation of the manufacturing industry,Kwun Tong district has seen a rise of commercial buildings,such as APM Millennium City 5. Kwun Tong is served by six stations on the Kwun Tong line:Yau Tong (also on the Tseung Kwan O line),Lam Tin,Kwun Tong,Ngau Tau Kok and Kowloon Bay.
Pollution,poverty and ageing population remain concerns for the district. According to a statistical figures of 2001,the proportion of poor and elderly people in this district is 22.6% and 15.5% respectively. Furthermore,the number of poor people living in this district is 124,803,which is the highest in Hong Kong.

Kwun Tong District is one of the industrial areas in Hong Kong. The factories had been built since the 1950s. These industrial areas are mainly located in Kowloon Bay,Kwun Tong (to the southwest of Kwun Tong Road),and Yau Tong. Since the importance of manufacturing in Hong Kong is fading out,many factories have been demolished and commercial buildings are being constructed to replace them.
Opened in Hong Kong in April 2005,APM Millennium City 5 is a commercial property developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties. Together with Millennium Cities 1,2,3,and 6,they are commercial properties situated along Kwun Tong Road. apm Millennium City 5 is next to the Kwun Tong station. There is also a 7-storey shopping arcade with an array of restaurants,clothing stores,cosmetics shops,and a cineplex. It also contains a bus terminus and parking facilities.
It is the largest mall in the district,and caters for the habits of the community by having extended operating hours. Its name 'apm' implies that visitors are welcome during day (am) and night (pm). In fact,many shops inside the mall are open overnight. Some retail shops close at 12 midnight,and restaurants close at 2am. There are also stores that operate 24 hours.
The residential areas in Kwun Tong are mainly located in Ngau Tau Kok,upper Kwun Tong Central,Sau Mau Ping and Lam Tin.
Around 54% of the population of the Kwun Tong District live in public housing estates,13% in the Home Ownership Scheme estates,4% in the Private Sector Participation Scheme estates,and the rest in private housing. With the redevelopment schemes of housing estates being completed successively in recent years,many older estates have been replaced by new ones,and this scenario gives a fresh look to the amenities of the District.
The supply and demand of medical and health services in Kwun Tong are all very stringent,and especially the accident and emergency services are provided by the United Christian Hospital which is the only hospital in the District equipped with casualty facilities. In the event of accidents and disasters,the injured have to be sent there for emergency medical treatment. In addition,various health services are provided by the Department of Health in the District,including an elderly health centre,a woman health centre,a chest clinic,a child assessment centre,a dermatological clinic,a dental out-patient clinic,a school dental clinic,a social hygiene clinic,two maternal and child health care centres,two methadone clinics and three student health service centres/special assessment centres.
There are nine community centres under the District Office,and they are distributed over the 8 sub-districts of the Kwun Tong District. The oldest one is the Kwun Tong Community Centre,which is already 34 years old,while the newest one is the Sai Tso Wan Neighbourhood Community Centre. The construction of the Centre,which was completed in 1993,is the ancillary requirement that Laguna City developer has to fulfil for property development therein.
Kwun Tong is served by the Kwun Tong line (six stations) and the Tseung Kwan O line (one station) of the MTR metro system.

Kowloon is an urban area in Hong Kong comprising the Kowloon Peninsula and New Kowloon. It has a population of 2,019,533 and a population density of 43,033/km2 (111,450/sq mi) in 2006. It is one of the three areas of Hong Kong, along with Hong Kong Island and the New Territories, and is the smallest, second most populous and most densely populated.
Kwun Tong is an area in the Kwun Tong District of Hong Kong, situated at the eastern part of the Kowloon Peninsula, and its boundary stretches from Lion Rock in the north to Lei Yue Mun in the south, and from the winding paths of Kowloon Peak in the east to the north coast of the former Kai Tak Airport runway in the west.
The Kwun Tong line is a rapid transit line of the MTR network in Hong Kong, coloured green on the MTR map. Starting at Whampoa in Hung Hom and ending at Tiu Keng Leng in Tseung Kwan O, Sai Kung, the route has 17 stations and takes 35 minutes to complete. The Kwun Tong line is one of the busiest railway lines on the network connecting the central and the eastern portions of Kowloon via Wong Tai Sin. The line is mostly underground, but includes a lengthy elevated section, and runs generally in an east-west direction. During the morning rush hour, the Kwun Tong line utilises 33 trains running at 29tph to achieve a route capacity of 85,000 pphpd.
Hong Kong counts approximately 600 temples, shrines and monasteries. While Buddhism and Christianity are the most widely practiced religions, most religions are represented in the Special Administrative Region.
Tseung Kwan O New Town, commonly known as Tseung Kwan O, is one of the nine new towns in Hong Kong, built mainly on reclaimed land in the northern half of Junk Bay in southeastern New Territories, after which it is named.
Kwun Tong is a station on the MTR Kwun Tong line in Hong Kong. The station opened on 1 October 1979 as the eastern terminus of the first phase of the Kwun Tong line until the Eastern Harbour Crossing to Quarry Bay opened on 6 August 1989. It is located in the Kwun Tong area, between Lam Tin and Ngau Tau Kok stations.
Yau Tong is a station on the Hong Kong MTR Kwun Tong line and the Tseung Kwan O line. It is the only station of the Tseung Kwan O line located in Kowloon. The livery of the station is yellow. Although the train platforms are constructed above ground level, they are sealed from the outside with concrete walls to prevent the noise of trains from disturbing the nearby residents of Yau Tong Estate.
Ngau Tau Kok is an area of eastern Kowloon in Hong Kong, in the north of Kwun Tong District east to Kowloon Bay. Largely residential, Ngau Tau Kok has a population in excess of 210,000.
Lam Tin is an area in the Kwun Tong District in southeastern New Kowloon, Hong Kong. Lam Tin is primarily a residential area but also hosts a major transport interchange and several shopping attractions. Lam Tin was once a large field in the vicinity of Kowloon Bay. During the Song dynasty, it was a site of salt production. Since the 1980s, a number of housing estates were constructed in Lam Tin.
Yau Tong is an area of Hong Kong, located in the southeastern end of Kowloon, between Lei Yue Mun and Lam Tin, at the east shore of Victoria Harbour, west of Tseung Kwan O. Administratively, it is part of Kwun Tong District, the most densely populated district in Hong Kong.
Cha Kwo Ling is a hill in the eastern New Kowloon area of Hong Kong, and the area around it. It is adjacent to Victoria Harbour and located to the west of Yau Tong and southwest of Lam Tin. Administratively, it belongs to the Kwun Tong District. The northeastern entrance to the Eastern Harbour Crossing is located in this area.
The Hong Kong Strategic Route and Exit Number System is a system adopted by the Transport Department of the Hong Kong Government to organise the major roads in the territory into routes 1 to 10 for the convenience of drivers. When the system was implemented in 2004, the government promoted it with a major public campaign, including the slogan "Remember the Numbers; Make Driving Easier".

KMB Route 1A is a bus route operated by Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) in Hong Kong. It runs between Star Ferry and Sau Mau Ping (Central) and provides air-conditioned service. The route runs via Tsim Sha Tsui, Yau Ma Tei, Mong Kok, Kowloon City, San Po Kong, Ngau Tau Kok, Kwun Tong, and Sau Mau Ping.
