Section of lists of villages in the book Xin'an Xianzhi (literally The History of Xin'an County ) published in twenty fourth year of Jiaqing era (A.D. 1819) did not have any record of Ho Man Tin.
The original Ho Man Tin was quite different from today's Ho Man Tin. It was located in the heart of nowaday Mong Kok. With cultivated lands,it was surrounded in the north by Argyle Street,west by Coronation Road (present-day Nathan Road),and east by Quarry Hill,No. 12 Hill and Tai Shek Kwu (present-day Kadoorie Hill). Southeast from its original location is Fo Pang and to the south Mong Kok. Streams from those hills in the east offered water for cultivation,the latter reflected in the area's name last Chinese character,i.e. tin,田,which means field. The "Ho" (何) and "Man" (文) part of the name are both Chinese surnames;so Ho Man Tin represents the agricultural land owned by the "Ho" and "Man",the major families who took their residence around the area.
At the time of the 1911 census,the population of Ho Man Tin was 470. The number of males was 272. [1]
In the 1950s and 1960s,the eastern hills to the original site of Ho Man Tin became a resettlement area for refugees from China,the city building there the Ho Man Tin Estate,which gave the name Ho Man Tin to that section of the hills,thus shifting away name-wise from the original flat fields. The present-day Ho Man Tin is close to Argyle Street and Kowloon Hospital. The area is within the district of the Kowloon City police station.
Today,Ho Man Tin is home to many public housing estates as well as the headquarters of the Housing Authority. Oi Man Estate was on the itinerary of Queen Elizabeth II when she visited Hong Kong in 1975.

Ho Man Tin is in Primary One Admission (POA) School Net 34. Within the school net are multiple aided schools (operated independently but funded with government money) and two government schools:Farm Road Government Primary School (農圃道官立小學) and Ma Tau Chung Government Primary School (馬頭涌官立小學). [2]
Princess Margaret Road,Waterloo Road,Argyle Street and Pui Ching Road act as the main arteries of the Ho Man Tin area,and it is conveniently served by public buses.
Despite the name,Ho Man Tin station of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) is not located in Ho Man Tin proper but in the lesser known area Lo Lung Hang instead. The central part of Ho Man Tin between Argyle Street and Waterloo Road is in fact more than 1 km (0.62 mi) away on foot. This led to a debate on its naming circa the station's opening. [3] [4] The closest station to Ho Man Tin proper is actually Mong Kok East on the East Rail line.

The Kwun Tong line is a rapid transit line of the MTR network in Hong Kong,coloured green on the MTR map. Starting at Whampoa in Hung Hom and ending at Tiu Keng Leng in Tseung Kwan O,Sai Kung,the route has 17 stations and takes 35 minutes to complete. The Kwun Tong line is one of the busiest railway lines on the network connecting the central and the eastern portions of Kowloon via Wong Tai Sin. The line is mostly underground,but includes a lengthy elevated section,and runs generally in an east-west direction. During the morning rush hour,the Kwun Tong line utilises 33 trains running at 29tph to achieve a route capacity of 85,000 pphpd.

Yau Ma Tei,formerly named Waterloo after Waterloo Road,is an MTR station located in Yau Ma Tei,Kowloon. It lays straightly like a long box under thoroughfare Nathan Road,ending north under Pitt Street and south near Man Ming Lane. It is served by the Kwun Tong line and the Tsuen Wan line. The station opened on 22 December 1979 and was renamed as Yau Ma Tei on 31 May 1985 along with Argyle and Chater (Central).
Nathan Road is the main thoroughfare in Kowloon,Hong Kong,aligned south–north from Tsim Sha Tsui to Sham Shui Po. It is lined with shops and restaurants and throngs with visitors,and was known in the post–World War II years as the Golden Mile,a name that is now rarely used. It starts on the southern part of Kowloon at its junction with Salisbury Road,a few metres north of Victoria Harbour,and ends at its intersection with Boundary Street in the north. Tai Kok Tsui is an area west of Mong Kok in Yau Tsim Mong district in the Kowloon region of Hong Kong. The mixed land use of industrial and residential is present in the old area. The Cosmopolitan Dock and oil depots were previously located there. Blocks of high-rise residential buildings have been erected on the reclaimed area to the west,which marked the revitalisation of the area with many restaurants and bars setting up shop. Many of the older residential buildings have been vacated and are set to be replaced by high-rise residential and commercial buildings.
Argyle Street is a four-lane dual-way thoroughfare in Kowloon,Hong Kong,connecting the districts of Mong Kok,Ho Man Tin,Ma Tau Wai and Kowloon City. It runs on an east-west alignment starting at its intersection with Cherry Street,Ferry Street and Tong Mi Road in the west,and ending near the former Kai Tak Airport in the east. Due to the street's proximity with the latter,a variety of aircraft could be seen from this street and thus photographers seized the opportunity to capture landing aircraft.

Island Harbourview is one of the largest private housing estates in Tai Kok Tsui,Yau Tsim Mong District,Kowloon,Hong Kong. It is one of the property projects in MTR Olympic station Phase I.
