Surfeit is a human gene cluster that consists of a group of very tightly linked genes on chromosome 9 that do not share sequence similarity. Genes in this cluster are numbered 1 through 6: SURF1, SURF2, SURF3, SURF4, SURF5, and SURF6. [1]
Keratin 6A is one of the 27 different type II keratins expressed in humans. Keratin 6A was the first type II keratin sequence determined. Analysis of the sequence of this keratin together with that of the first type I keratin led to the discovery of the four helical domains in the central rod of keratins. In humans Keratin 6A is encoded by the KRT6A gene.
The ParaHox gene cluster is an array of homeobox genes from the Gsx, Xlox (Pdx) and Cdx gene families.
60S ribosomal protein L7a is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RPL7A gene.
Homeobox protein Hox-D13 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HOXD13 gene. This gene belongs to the homeobox family of genes. The homeobox genes encode a highly conserved family of transcription factors that play an important role in morphogenesis in all multicellular organisms.
Homeobox protein Hox-A7 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HOXA7 gene.
Homeobox protein Hox-A13 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HOXA13 gene.
Homeobox protein Hox-B1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HOXB1 gene.
Homeobox protein Hox-D3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HOXD3 gene.
Surfeit locus protein 1 (SURF1) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SURF1 gene. The protein encoded by SURF1 is a component of the mitochondrial translation regulation assembly intermediate of cytochrome c oxidase complex, which is involved in the regulation of cytochrome c oxidase assembly. Defects in this gene are a cause of Leigh syndrome, a severe neurological disorder that is commonly associated with systemic cytochrome c oxidase deficiency, and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease 4K (CMT4K).
Homeobox A4, also known as HOXA4, is a protein which in humans is encoded by the HOXA4 gene.
Homeobox protein Hox-A3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HOXA3 gene.
Homeobox protein Hox-D11 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HOXD11 gene.
Olfactory receptor 1E1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the OR1E1 gene.
Mediator of RNA polymerase II transcription subunit 22 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the MED22 gene.
Surfeit locus protein 6 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SURF6 gene.
Homeobox protein Hox-C11 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HOXC11 gene.
Surfeit locus protein 4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SURF4 gene.
SURF2 is a protein which in humans is encoded by the SURF2 gene. SURF2 is a member of the surfeit gene family.
Myosin-13 also known as myosin, heavy chain 13 is a protein which in humans is encoded by the MYH13 gene.
The Gsx gene family are a group of genes found in many, but not all, animals. Gsx genes contain a homeobox DNA sequence and code for proteins that act as transcription factors. The human genome has two Gsx genes, called GSX1 and GSX2, while the fruitfly Drosophila has a single Gsx gene called ind. Vertebrate Gsx genes are implicated in neural patterning. In many animals, Gsx genes can be part of a ParaHox gene cluster.
