The film premiered at the Sun Valley Film Festival on April 2, 2023, and was released digitally on June 20, 2023, by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
Five years after the Civil War, freedwoman and former Buffalo Soldier Moses "Mo" Washington travels west to lay claim to a gold mine disguised as a man after her stagecoach is ambushed by a group of murderous thieves. Mo is forced to hold legendary outlaw Tommy Walsh captive while the remaining surviving passengers seek out help.
It was announced in October 2020 that Letitia Wright, Jamie Bell and Michael K. Williams were set to star in the film, to be directed by Anthony Mandler. [2] Principal photography began in November 2020, in New Mexico. [3] In December 2020, Jeffrey Donovan and Brett Gelman joined the cast. [4] On December 5, 2022, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer acquired the film's world sales rights, and it was reported that post-production on the film took two years, in part due to the death of Williams. [5]

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes , 88% of 26 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 7/10. [9] Metacritic , which uses a weighted average , assigned the film a score of 57 out of 100, based on seven critics, indicating "mixed or average" reviews. [10]

Shuri is a fictional character portrayed primarily by Letitia Wright in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) media franchise based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, also inspired by the James Bond character Q. She is the courageous and tech-savvy younger sister of T'Challa, and the daughter of T'Chaka and Ramonda, all preceding monarchs of Wakanda. Highly intelligent and a master engineer, she is Wakanda's lead scientist and the princess of the country. Following her father's death, Shuri assists her brother in reclaiming the Wakandan throne from their cousin N'Jadaka and then helps remove Bucky Barnes's programming. Later, she assists the Avengers by attempting to use her technology to safely remove the Mind Stone from Vision's head. However, she gets stopped by Corvus Glaive and shortly after, falls victim to the Blip. After getting restored to life, she joins the battle against an alternate Thanos. Following her brother and mother's death, she becomes the new Black Panther, defeating Namor in combat and forming an alliance with Talokan against the rest of the world.
