Sway is the second studio album by American alternative rock band Whirr, released on September 23, 2014 by Graveface Records. [1] The album marked the departure of previous lead singer Alexandra Morte, as well as the first release with Devin Nunes who replaced Sergio Miranda on drums. [2] It was produced by Jack Shirley. [3]

On July 11, 2014, the band released the song "Mumble" on SoundCloud as a preview of the new album. [2] [8]
At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, Sway received an average score of 74, based on six reviews, which indicates "generally favorable reviews". [3] Tim Sendra of AllMusic noted that Sway's sound had taken a large influence from Nick Bassett's presence, "inch[ing] them closer to the harder side of the shoegaze revival (right next to Bassett's other band, Nothing, in fact)". He gave the album 4 out of 5 stars and finalized his review by saying that "Sway is an album that would measure up to almost any album made by the first wave of shoegazers". [1] Punknews.org gave the album 3.5 out of 5 stars; while generally praising the album, the reviewer wished that Whirr would "experiment even more and toy with new music to give a bit more insight as to where the road leads", and also noted that "some tracks are a tad too long and sometimes, it drags". Separation Sunday is the second studio album by the American indie rock band the Hold Steady, released on May 3, 2005, through Frenchkiss Records. A concept album, Separation Sunday follows the interconnected stories of several fictional characters: Craig, Holly, a sometimes addict, sometimes prostitute, sometimes born again Christian or Catholic ; Charlemagne, a pimp; and Gideon, a skinhead, as they travel from city to city and party to party.

Deafheaven is an American post-metal band formed in 2010. Originally based in San Francisco, the group began as a two-piece with singer George Clarke and guitarist Kerry McCoy, who recorded and self-released a demo album together. Following its release, Deafheaven recruited three new members and began to tour. Before the end of 2010, the band signed to Deathwish Inc. and later released their debut album Roads to Judah, in April 2011. They popularized a unique style blending black metal, shoegaze, and post-rock, among other influences, later called "blackgaze" by reviewers.
Sunbather is the second studio album by the American metal band Deafheaven. After the release of their debut record Roads to Judah, the then two piece group consisting of George Clarke and Kerry McCoy began work on Sunbather under the label Deathwish and recorded in several days in January 2013. The recording process brought a third member into the fold with drummer Dan Tracy who would go on to become a permanent fixture of the band. The album was recorded in The Atomic Garden Recording Studio, owned by Jack Shirley who had been a long time producer of the band.
In a Warzone is the third album by the American punk rock/hip hop band Transplants. It was premiered as a stream on Rolling Stone's website on June 17, 2013 and released via Epitaph Records on June 25, 2013. Recording sessions took place at Opra Music Studios and The Boat in Los Angeles. Audio production of the record was entirely handled by the Transplants with Christopher Holmes. Rancid's Matt Freeman, Left Alone's Elvis Cortez, UGK's Bun B, Bored Stiff's Equipto, and Expensive Taste's Paul Wall made their appearances on the album as additional musicians and vocalists. The band supported the album by touring with Rancid.
Whirr is a shoegaze band from Modesto, California. The group formed in 2010, originally as Whirl, but had to legally change its name after a woman performing acoustic covers of Black Sabbath songs trademarked the name and threatened a lawsuit. Whirr's shoegaze sound is often compared to My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive. Founding guitarist Nick Bassett also played in the band Deafheaven surrounding and including the release of their 2011 album Roads to Judah.
Fergus David Edward Miller, known professionally as Bored Nothing (2012–14), was an Australian musician. He released a self-titled album in October 2012. It received some international attention and together with his band Miller had toured internationally. Bored Nothing's second album, Some Songs, appeared in October 2014. Miller died by suicide after bouts of depression, and is survived by his wife, Anna Davidson.
Nothing is an American shoegaze band that formed in 2010. The band self-released several EPs before signing to Relapse Records. They released their debut studio album, Guilty of Everything, in 2014. The follow-up album, Tired of Tomorrow, was released on in 2016. Nothing's third studio album, Dance on the Blacktop, was released in 2018, and their fourth studio album, The Great Dismal, was released in 2020.
Guilty of Everything is the debut studio album by the American shoegaze band Nothing, released on March 4, 2014 by Relapse Records. It is the only album to feature Chris Betts on bass and the first to feature Kyle Kimball on drums.
Lost in Alphaville is the third full-length studio album by The Rentals, released on August 25, 2014, through Polyvinyl Records. The album is available on CD, vinyl, cassette and as a digital download. It marks the band's first full-length album since their 1999 release Seven More Minutes and their first-ever release through Polyvinyl, with whom they signed in December 2013.
Whirr / Nothing is a split EP by the American shoegaze bands Whirr and Nothing, released on November 17, 2014 by Run for Cover. The EP was released digitally as well as in 12-inch vinyl format with an etched B-side packaged with a documentary DVD. Nothing announced the EP in February 2014, prior to the release of its debut album Guilty of Everything, describing the split release as "very accessible" and noting a tentative release date of early 2014.
Hyperview is the third and most recent studio album by American rock band Title Fight. The album was released on February 3, 2015 through ANTI- Records and was produced by Will Yip at Studio 4 Recording. This marks the third time Title Fight has worked with Yip, following Floral Green (2012) and Spring Songs EP (2013). It was mastered by Emily Lazar and Richard Morales at The Lodge, in New York.
Blind Spot is the fourth and final extended play (EP) by English rock band Lush. Released on 15 April 2016, by the band's record label Edamame, the EP contains the band's first new material since 1996, following their reunion in 2015. It was produced by Jim Abbiss and Ladytron member Daniel Hunt.

Nick Bassett is an American musician, producer and composer from Modesto, California. He was the bassist of shoegaze band Nothing and is the lead guitarist of shoegaze band Whirr. He also played guitar in the original lineup of blackgaze band Deafheaven.
Trouble Maker is the ninth studio album by the American punk rock band Rancid, released on June 9, 2017. Like many of Rancid's albums, Trouble Maker was produced by Epitaph founder and Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz, and marks the band's first album since their 1993 self-titled debut to feature the original Rancid logo on the cover. The band recorded the album between December 2015 and January 2017 at Big Bad Sound, Sunset Sound, and Red Star.
Dance on the Blacktop is the third studio album by American shoegaze band Nothing. It is the last album to feature bassist Nick Bassett and founding member, vocalist and guitarist Brandon Setta before both departed the band between 2018 and 2019, respectively. The album was released on August 24, 2018 by Relapse Records.
