The women's 200 metre butterfly event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games as part of the swimming programme took place on 28 July at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow, Scotland.
The medals were presented by Takitoa Taumoepeau, Secretary General of the Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee and the quaichs were presented by Annette Knott, Secretary General of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee.

Jessicah Lee Schipper OAM is an Australian former competition swimmer. Specialising in the 100 and 200 metres butterfly, she won several gold medals at the Olympic Games and the World Championships between 2004 and 2009.
Tao Li is a Chinese-born Singaporean competitive swimmer who specializes in the backstroke and butterfly.
Ellen May Gandy, also known by her nickname Elly Gandy, is a British-born Australian former female butterfly swimmer. She represented Great Britain and England until 2012, and had almost all of her elite-level success under those flags. She represented Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics in the 200m butterfly swimming event, and was the 2011 World silver medalist at that distance.

Her haul of five medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics matches fellow Australians Ian Thorpe and Shane Gould in one single Olympics, and trails only Emma McKeon’s seven.

Katerine Savard is a Canadian competitive swimmer who specializes in women's butterfly events and freestyle relay. She holds several Canadian national records in the butterfly over the 50-, 100-, and 200-metre distances in both the short and long courses. Savard also holds the Canadian junior butterfly record in the 200-metre event. She won the gold medal at the Summer Universiade in the 100-metre butterfly in 2012, while also garnering a medal in the 50-metre butterfly at the 2013 Universiade. Savard won gold at the Commonwealth Games in the 100-metre butterfly in Glasgow, where she set the Commonwealth record in the process. At the same games she also won a bronze as a member of the women's 4×100-metre medley relay team.
Choi Hye-Ra is a South Korean swimmer, who specialized in butterfly and individual medley events. She collected a total of four medals in the 200 m butterfly, 200 m individual medley, and the 800 m freestyle relay at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, and at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. She also won a silver medal in the same medley distance at the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China, scorching a time of 2:14.17. Choi is a resident athlete of Osan Sports Club in Seoul.
