Symphony in Peril is a Christian [3] metalcore band from Columbus, Ohio, United States. The band started in early 2002, [4] and broke up in 2006, after Hellfest, which the band was to play, but was cancelled at the last minute. [5] As of 2022, they are active again with several new members.

History

Symphony in Peril formed in Columbus, OH in early 2002. [4] The band gained attention quite early in their development because Shawn Jonas, former vocalist for popular metalcore band Zao, was one of the founding members. [4]

Quickly, they signed with Facedown Records, and released their debut full-length, Lost Memoirs and Faded Pictures , in 2003. The band toured nationally and internationally with bands such as Nodes of Ranvier and the Chariot and also performed at the Cornerstone and Sonshine festivals.

In March 2005, shortly after releasing their second album, The Whore's Trophy , the band announced that vocalist Shawn Jonas had left the band. In June of the same year, the band announced that John Pope, former singer for fellow Ohio band Narcissus, would be replacing Jonas. [6]

Later that year, in October, the band announced via their MySpace blog that the band would break up after a few final performances in November. [7]

In more recent years, Drummer/Bassist Collin Simula formed a new project titled Maranatha, which was the first band of any of the members from SIP. [8]

In October 2022 the band was active again with a lineup including Shawn and Andy Capps and released a new single. [9] On February 22, 2023, it was announced the band will play their first show in 18 years at the 2023 Furnace Fest preshow. [10] In 2022, the band formed under the lineup of returning members Shawn Jonas and Andy Capps, with new members Dan Pelletier on guitars, Chico Weeks on bass, and Michael DeSerio on drums. [11] However, by 2023, the lineup shifted with Weeks and DeSerio departing from the band, which Pelletier explained was due to the distance between band members. [12] In 2023, the band now featured Bryan Yost on bass and Josh King on drums. [13]

Narcissus was an American hardcore band formed by John LaRussa and John Pope in 1998 in Canton, Ohio. In addition to John Pope and John LaRussa (guitar), who were in the band from start to finish, members included, at various times, Justin Carroll (bass), Ray Taylor, Derek Carter (percussion), Bill Wensel (percussion), Stephen Cushman (percussion) and Josh King (bass). The band was on the now-defunct label Takehold Records before joining Century Media. A few albums were re-released through Tooth & Nail. Before breaking up the band were featured on The Vans Warped tour and were getting ready to hit Europe for their international release of Crave and Collapse, which was received well overseas. They announced that they have reunited and become a band again in 2020 after John Pope and John LaRussa were offered a spot on the famous Furnace Fest, performing on day 1, September 24, 2021, along with bands Converge, Glassjaw, Killswitch Engage, Everytime I Die and many others. They performed their first show on September 11, 2021.

Nodes of Ranvier is a metalcore band from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, US, that was signed to Victory Records. The band is described as "one of Sioux Falls' most successful and popular acts ever." They have played with bands such as Bleeding Through, Every Time I Die, Bury Your Dead, Caliban, Comeback Kid, Norma Jean, Misery Signals, Extol and more across the US. The band's name refers to the myelin sheath gaps which are also called Nodes of Ranvier.

Overcome are an American Christian metalcore band. They come from Phoenix, Arizona. The band started making music in 1993 until their decade-long hiatus from 2000 to 2010, when they commenced making music again. Tooth & Nail Records released the band's first two albums, Blessed Are the Persecuted in 1996 and When Beauty Dies in 1997. Facedown Records has released the other albums from the band signed the band. Onward to Olympas was an American metalcore band from Salisbury, North Carolina. The band started making music in 2005, and disbanded in 2013. Their membership was vocalists, Chris Davis and Kramer Lowe, guitarists and vocalist, Andy Simmons, Justin Gage, and Kyle Phillips, drummer and vocalist, Mark Hudson, guitarist, Andrew Higginbotham, bass guitarist, Justin Allman, and drummers, Matt Burnside, Nick Helvey. The band released one independently made album, The End of the Beginning, in 2007, and their lone extended play, Victory at All Costs, in 2008. Their first studio album, This World Is Not My Home, was released by Facedown Records, in 2010. The subsequent studio album, The War within Us, was released by Facedown Records, in 2011. They released, Indicator, with Facedown Records, in 2012, and this was their third and final studio album.

Death Sentence is the second studio album from Those Who Fear. Facedown Records released the album on June 24, 2014. Those Who Fear worked with Josh Schroeder on the production of this album.

Bloodlined Calligraphy is an American Christian metal band, and they primarily play metalcore. They come from Ypsilanti, Michigan. The band started making music in 1999. Their membership was Matt Carter, Ally French, Ryan Hampton, and Eric Cargile. The band released, Say Hi to the Bad Guy, an album, with Selah Records, in 2002. The group became part of Strike First Records, where they released, The Beginning of the End, an extended play, in 2004. They signed to Facedown Records, where they released, They Want You Silent, another studio album, in 2004. Their subsequent studio album, Ypsilanti, was released by Facedown Records, in 2006. The band played their last show on April 19, 2014. The band reunited in 2017 for Facedown Fest 2017.

Maranatha is sludge metal band from Ohio. The band consists of vocalist, guitarist, and drummer, Collin Simula, vocalist and bassist, Jack Huston, guitarist Darrell Chess and drummer Wes Jackson.
