T. Suvarna Raju is the former chairman and managing director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited which is an Indian Public Sector Undertaking under the Government of India. [1] [2] [3]
T. Suvarna Raju,took over as Chairman,HAL on 1 February 2015. He joined HAL in 1980 as Management Trainee and has worked in different capacities at HAL,before taking over as Director,Design &Development in 2012. He is also the first Member Secretary of Design Development Management Board established by Ministry of Defence (India). [4]
He was actively involved in the research and development programmes for the light combat aircraft the HAL Tejas,HAL HTT-40. [5] [6]
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is an Indian public sector aerospace and defence company,headquartered in Bangalore. Established on 23 December 1940,HAL is one of the oldest and largest aerospace and defence manufacturers in the world. HAL began aircraft manufacturing as early as 1942 with licensed production of Harlow PC-5,Curtiss P-36 Hawk and Vultee A-31 Vengeance for the Indian Air Force. HAL currently has 11 dedicated Research and development (R&D) centres and 21 manufacturing divisions under 4 production units spread across India. HAL is managed by a board of directors appointed by the President of India through the Ministry of Defence,Government of India. HAL is currently involved in designing and manufacturing of fighter jets,helicopters,jet engine and marine gas turbine engine,avionics,software development,spares supply,overhauling and upgrading of Indian military aircraft.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is the premier agency under the Department of Defence Research and Development in Ministry of Defence of the Government of India,charged with the military's research and development,headquartered in Delhi,India. The Ilyushin Il-276 (SVTS) is a medium-airlift military transport aircraft currently being developed by initially United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). It is designed to perform regular transport duties and also to deploy up to 150 paratrooper soldiers or up to 20 tons of cargo. The HAL Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) along with its derivative Light Observation Helicopter (LOH) was designed and developed by Rotary Wing Research and Design Center (RWR&DC) one of the R&D sections of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for civilian and military applications. He led the team which designed and developed HAL HT-2,the first Indian designed and built aircraft. He was honoured by the Government of India in 1965,with the award of Padma Shri,the fourth highest Indian civilian award for his services to the nation.
Nalini Ranjan Mohanty is a retired IOFS officer and former Chairman &Managing Director of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). He is a former president of the Aeronautical Society of India (ASI) and has been the chairman and managing director of Textron India. A Fellow of the ASI and the Institution of Engineers (India),Mohanty received the Ruchi Prativa Samman in 2003. The Government of India awarded him the fourth-highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri,in 2004,for his contributions to Indian industrial sector.
