TCS IT Wiz is an information technology quiz-based competition for students in class 8-12 across India. [1] [2] It is held annually in India and the UAE by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The UAE edition of the quiz was discontinued after 2014. The first competition was in 1999. More than 15,000 students entered the competition. [1] The competition is conducted by "Pickbrain" (Giri Balasubramanium), the chief executive officer of Greycaps India Private Limited. Greycaps is an on-stage quiz and knowledge service provider based in Bangalore, India. [3]

Competition

The first annual competition was held in Bangalore in 1999. In 2000, it was held in six cities and in 2011, it was held in 14 cities followed by national finals. On 8 December 2012, the finals were held in Chennai and won by New Era Public School, Mayapuri. On 15 December 2013, the finals were held in Taj Land's End, Mumbai and won by Modern School, Barakhamba Road. The finals of the 2014 competition were also held at Taj Land's End and were won by P. S. Senior Secondary School. The 2015 competition was won by Adnan Azmat and Shadan Kalam from Rajendra Vidyalaya, Jamshedpur. The 2016 winners were Parth Dhar and Pranava Dhar from Delhi Public School, Noida. The 2017 winners were Ansh Arora and Pranava Dhar from Delhi Public School, Noida. The 2018 competition was won by Nihar Shah and Bhavya Raninga of St. Kabir School, Vadodara. The 2019 edition of the quiz was won by Yashovardhan Shetty and Udbhav Saxena from The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet. [4] The 2021 edition of the quiz was won by Sandeep Murugesh from St. Judes Public School & Junior College.

Mastermind India is an Indian television quiz show based on the British quiz show Mastermind. It originally aired on BBC World's "Made in India" series between 1998 and 2002. Each round saw four contestants taking the black chair one by one, and facing rapid fire questions on subjects of their own choosing in the first half, and on general knowledge in the second half. One of the hallmarks of the Indian show was the staging of the contest at heritage sites across the country. For example, in 1999 the semi-finals were held at the Ferozshah Kotla in Delhi, and the finals were held at the City Palace, Jaipur. Mastermind India was hosted by Siddhartha Basu and had five seasons, the last one being in 2002.

The Illuminati Quiz is an annual Indian quiz contest that began on 8 December 2008; the students of the Model Engineering College (MEC) organized this south India level quiz competition as a tribute and a memorial to Sandeep Menon (1984-2008). In 2004 "The Illuminatus", or Menon, as he was commonly called, started the community called "The Illuminati", whose aim is to promote and continue the quizzing tradition both within college and with the extended community. It has conducted over 120 intra- and inter- collegiate quizzes to date. In addition, three annual versions of The Illuminati Quiz have been conducted at a South India level. The quiz consists of an online quizzing competition and a preliminary written round in which six qualifying teams make it to the final round.

Giri 'Pickbrain' Balasubramaniam is the founder and chief executive officer of Greycaps, India's largest on stage quizzing and knowledge service provider. He is nicknamed Pickbrain.

The Hindu Young World Quiz is a Quiz competitions in India. It is a live quiz contest held for students of classes 3 - 9, consisting of a Junior Quiz and a Senior Quiz. It is part of The Hindu's 'Newspapers in Education' initiative. It is according to The Hindu Young World" arguably the biggest live quiz show for middle and high school students in India." It is hosted by quiz master V. V. Ramanan, Regular quiz columnist for various publications of the Kasturi & Sons group including The Hindu, Sportstar and Hindu Business Line. The First Edition of the question appeared in the year 2000, and has completed 20 years (2020).
