Tafadzwa Chitokwindo is a Zimbabwean rugby player who represents Zimbabwe at an international level. He is known for his speed.

Early life

Tafadzwa Chitokwindo was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, in 20 September, 1990. He is the oldest of the three children in his family. Growing up in Bulawayo and in Masvingo, he attended at Victoria High School in Masvingo in forms one to four, then moved to Kyle College. He represented Masvingo Province at the Zimbabwe National Youth Games in the 100m, 200m, long jump, triple jump and 110m hurdles. He was then selected to represent Zimbabwe in South Africa in 2008 for the Coca-Cola Craven Week.

Rugby career

In 2010 he was part of the Zimbabwe Young Sables team in the 2010 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy in Russia. [1] He scored three points with one drop. [2]

Later in 2010, Chitokwindo played for the Sables (Zimbabwe national rugby union team) against Kenya in the Victoria Cup. At the end of 2010 he played for the Zimbabwe Cheetahs at the Dubai Sevens. Chitokwindo was admitted to Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa in 2011, where he played for the university on the first rugby team. In April 2014 he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree majoring in Economics and Management. [1] In September 2014 he was on trial at the German club TV Pforzheim, [3] with whom he reached the Rugby-Bundesliga final. [4] As of 2015 he weighed 72 kilograms (159 lb) and was 1.78 metres (5 ft 10 in) tall. He plays wing. [2]

Tafadzwa Kamungozi is a Zimbabwean cricketer who bowls leg break. He has been picked in the Zimbabwean squad for the 2006 Champions Trophy without having played any One-day Internationals before, though he did play for a Zimbabwe Board XI in a three-match series against an Australian Academy team which was lost 0–3. Kamungozi played three official List A matches for Masvingo in the 2005–06 one-day league in Zimbabwe, taking five wickets, of which four came in a game against Mashonaland who were bowled out for 76.

The Southern Rocks is one of five Zimbabwean cricket franchises. They are a first-class cricket team, based in the Masvingo and Matabeleland South area. They play their home matches at Masvingo Sports Club in Masvingo. The team initially ceased to play after the 2013–14 season. In their 47 first-class matches they won 3, lost 27, and drew 17. However, in December 2020, Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed they would be one of the teams playing in the 2020–21 Logan Cup Southern Rocks won their first Logan Cup trophy in the same 2020–21 season.

The Bamburi Super Series was an East African Rugby union competition with eight teams in total, five teams from Kenya two from Uganda and one from Tanzania (Twigas) that is currently defunct. It is closely based on the Super Rugby competition in the southern hemisphere. Games take place at the RFUEA Ground in Nairobi (Kenya), Friedkin Recreation Centre in Arusha (Tanzania) and the Kyadondo Grounds, Kampala (Uganda). Rhinos have won the most titles with four wins, and are the only team to have defended a title when they beat the Cheetahs 25–5 in the 2010 final.

The Victoria Cup is a rugby union tournament contested by the four African nations of Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe as of 2019. After a seven-year hiatus, the competition was revived following Rugby Africa's cancellation of the Africa Gold Cup in 2019 due to sponsorship loss.

The 2010 Victoria Cup took place during June and July 2010, and was the inaugural Victoria Cup with the national teams from Zimbabwe, Kenya and Uganda competing in a round robin tournament, with both home and away fixtures. Kenya was declared the winner after winning all 4 of its matches.

Charity Mucucuti is a Zimbabwean women's basketball and rugby union player from Goromonzi, Zimbabwe. she has played for both the Zimbabwe women's national basketball team and the Zimbabwe women's national rugby union team.
