Martinsville is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,485. A community of both Southside and Southwest Virginia, it is the county seat of Henry County, although the two are separate jurisdictions. The Bureau of Economic Analysis combines the city of Martinsville with Henry County for statistical purposes.

The award, named in honor of James Naismith's daughter-in-law, was established for men in 1969 and for women in 1984. The men's award was presented to the nation's most outstanding senior who stands 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) or shorter, while the women's award was presented to the top senior who is 5 ft 8 in (1.73 m) or shorter. Early in the women's award's history, the cut-off height was 5 ft 6 in (1.68 m). The men's award was selected by a panel from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), while the women's was selected by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The award was discontinued following the 2013–14 season.

This original segment is also known as segment of independent utility 1 (SIU 1) in the national plan for expansion of I-69.

Rudolph M. Clay Sr. was an American activist and politician who was active in Indiana politics as a member of the Democratic Party. Clay was first active in politics with his election to the Indiana Senate from the 3rd district, then served in local politics in Lake County, Indiana, and served as the 19th Mayor of Gary, Indiana. He was the first black person elected to the state senate from Lake County and the first black person elected countywide in Lake County.
Hite-Finney House was a historic building at 183 North Jefferson Street in Martinsville, Morgan County, Indiana. It was built in 1855, and was a two-story, transitional Greek Revival / Italianate style brick I-house. The building partially collapsed in 2003. It was destroyed by fire in August 2006, and was fully demolished in October 2009.

Painted Hills is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jackson Township, Morgan County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. Its population was 766 as of the 2020 census, up from 677 in 2010. The community is located on the shores of Lake Holiday and Lake Nebo southeast of Martinsville, the Morgan county seat. The two lakes are a combined 196 acres (79 ha) in size.
Burton Lane Bridge, also known as Sheerer Bridge and Bruce Ford Bridge, was a historic Howe truss located near Martinsville, Morgan County, Indiana. It was built in 1872 by the Massillon Iron Bridge Company. It was a single span bridge measuring 99 feet long and 16 feet wide. It was destroyed by an overweight dump truck in May, 1997.
