Lagos State University,also known as LASU,is located in Ojo,with sub-campuses at Ikeja and Epe both towns in Lagos State,Nigeria. The university was established in 1983 by the enabling law of Lagos State,for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence;its motto being For Truth and Service. The university caters for over 35,000 students. The University was established during the Administration of Late Lateef Kayode Jakande. The university offers diploma,degree and post graduate programmes,including an MBA programme. LASU was ranked among the top 600 universities in the world by in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2020. On 23 June,2021 LASU emerged as the best young university in Nigeria having been below the age of 50 years to be added. Times Higher Education ranked the Lagos State University as the second best university in Nigeria on the 2 September 2020,and was the only state university included in the rankings for 2022. The university has attracted international funding,including for the establishment of a World Bank Group Africa Centre for Excellence on Science,Technology,Engineering and Mathematics.
Prince Abubakar Audu University,(Formerly Kogi State University) located at Anyigba,is the state-owned university of Kogi,Nigeria. It was established in 1999 by Prince Abubakar Audu,the former governor of the state. At the time of its establishment,it was known as Kogi State University,It was later named Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) in 2002,after the then sitting governor of Kogi State,who heralded its establishment,and later renamed Kogi State University (KSU) in 2003 by the former governor Ibrahim Idris and subsequently renamed as Prince Abubakar Audu University in 2020 by Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello in respect of late Abubakar Audu.

Ayo has placed emphasis on leadership training at Covenant University,as well as on academic performance and "Godly standards." Isa Marte Hussaini is a Nigerian professor of pharmacology and fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science,inducted into the academy in 2013. He specialized in cancer research and is currently exploring the use of local herbs for cancer therapy. His report to the Nigerian Academy of Science on the use of local herbs for Cancer therapy suggested that herbal plants are more efficacious than the current drugs used in cancer treatments. In May 2015,he presented a paper entitled:“The mining of Nigerian medicinal plants for cancer therapy”in Abuja at the induction of Fellows of the Nigeria Academy of Science where he stated the predictions of the International Agency for Research on Cancer that annual global new cases of cancers are expected to rise from 11 million to 16 million by 2020,with 70 per cent of them coming from developing countries.
