Takele Uma Banti (Oromo:Takala Umaa Bantii;born 1981) is an Ethiopian politician who was the Minister for Mines Petroleum of Ethiopia from 18 August 2020 to 14 January 2023. [1] [2] He was the 31st[ citation needed ] Mayor of Addis Ababa [3] from 2018 to 2023.
Takele has served as Mayor of Sebeta and Holeta and held many leadership roles across Trade,Transportation and Urban Land Development. He was also the City Manager for Sululta Municipal Administrations prior to achieving his for mayoral position. He held multiple different board seats at the top of the country's universities including being the previous Chairman of Addis Ababa University.
On 17 July 2018,Takele was elected as Mayor of Addis Ababa by Addis Ababa City Council in capacity of deputy mayor,though he was not a member of the Council. Nevertheless,he has a full responsibility. He was elected during the 5th extraordinary session in accordance with the revised proclamation by the House of People's Representatives. He succeeded Diriba Kuma. [4]
On 16 October 2019,Takele formed new cabinet approved by the Addis Ababa City Administration Council. He nominated 19 officials from head of different offices. Among the nominees,three of them are women,89 members who attended the session,79 members who favor of nomination while the three are against and seven are abstained. [5]
Takele served as a member of the Council of Ministers as the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum from 18 August 2020 [6] to 14 January 2023. [7]

The Adwa 00KM Museum is a public historical museum located in Piasa,Arada district,Addis Ababa,Ethiopia. Inaugurated on 11 February 2024,the museum is dedicated to the Battle of Adwa,the battle of the First Italo-Ethiopian War where Italian forces defeated by the Ethiopian Army in 1896. Part of Adwa Zero KM Project,the museum lies on 1.5 hectares of land.
