Tal Alexander (born July 5, 1986) and Oren Alexander (born July 2, 1987) are Israeli-American real estate agents focusing on the New York and Miami ultra-luxury markets. [1] [2] [3] They founded the Alexander Team at Douglas Elliman Real Estate in 2012. In 2019, the brothers co-represented the buyer in the most expensive residential home transaction ever in the United States. [4] In December 2024, the brothers were arrested on numerous charges involving sex trafficking, sexual assault and drugging dozens of women over more than a decade. [5] [6]
Tal and Oren were born to Israeli parents. [7] Oren has a twin brother, Alon.
Tal Alexander played tennis for Hofstra University, [1] and Oren Alexander graduated from the University of Colorado with a BA in finance. [8] [9]
Since high school, according to the New York Times, "rumors of sexual assault had swirled around them". [10]
In 2008 Tal and Oren moved to New York to start their careers. [2] [11]
Oren Alexander's first major deal was the sale of an $8.2 million penthouse in Manhattan in 2009. [11]
In 2012, they founded the Alexander Team at Douglas Elliman Real Estate. [12] In 2019, the brothers co-represented the buyer in the United States' most expensive residential home transaction, when a 24,000 square foot penthouse, at 220 Central Park South, sold for $238 million. [4] [13] [14] This sale surpassed the prior record when Barry Rosenstein had paid $137 million for his home in The Hamptons in 2014. [15] Also in 2019, the brothers sold an estate in Miami for $50 million, the most expensive single-family home ever sold in the Miami area. [16] [17]
The brothers' clients included Leon Black, [18] Lindsay Lohan, Liam Gallagher, [19] Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, [20] [21] Steve Madden, [8] and Tommy Hilfiger. [22] Oren Alexander has been featured in Forbes 30 Under 30 in Real Estate. [23]
In June 2022, the brothers left Douglas Elliman after a decade to launch their own firm, named "Official". [24] [25]
The twin brothers were "fixtures in the New York and Miami nightlife circuit". [26]
In June 2024, more than 30 women accused Oren and his twin brother, Alon, of sexual assault. Tal has also been implicated in multiple assaults. [27] Several of the accusations, some dating back decades, were corroborated by "dozens of former classmates, brokerage employees and agents." [28] One of the lawsuits alleging rape and sexual assault was filed by Angelica Parker. [29]
On the morning of December 11, 2024, Oren, Alon and Tal Alexander were all arrested by FBI agents in Miami Beach, Florida on charges of sex trafficking and drugging and raping dozens of women. [30] [31] [6] [5] Oren and Alon were charged together, while Tal was charged separately. [31] [30] In addition to being charged by the Southern District of Florida and the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, all three brothers were given a three-count indictment by the Southern District of New York. [32] [31] [33] Their case in New York was assigned to U.S. District Judge Valerie E. Caproni. [32] Their case in Florida was assigned to United States Magistrate Judge Lisette M. Reid of Southern District of Florida. [34] In the New York federal charges, the three brothers were each charged with one count of engaging in a sex trafficking conspiracy, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, and at least one count of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. [32] [35] Also in New York, Tal Alexander was charged with a second federal count of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion. [32] [35]
Oren and Alon, whose booking photos were made public shortly after they were booked into Miami-Dade's Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, also awaited trial in Miami Beach on separate state sexual battery charges. [5] [31] [36] [37] Oren was charged on three accounts of sexual battery, while Alon was charged on one. [37] Tal, whose case is primarily based in New York, did not appear in Miami-Dade County's inmate search following his arrest. [31] [38] [32]
Shortly after his arrest, Tal appeared in a South Florida federal court as part of the New York sex trafficking investigation against him. [31] During the hearing, prosecutors requested that Tal be held in New York, with the presiding judge setting a detention and removal hearing for December 13, 2024. [31]
On December 12, 2024, Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy Glazer ordered Oren and Alon temporarily held without bond on the state charges, with a hearing on a final decision scheduled for the next day. [39] [40] On December 13, 2024, Oren and Alon Alexander were each granted bail by Miami-Dade circuit judge Circuit Judge Lody Jean for the state charges, with Oren being granted a $3 million bond and Alon being granted a $2 million bond. [41] [42] [37] Their bonds were secured after their father, Shlomy Alexander, put up his home in Bal Harbour, Florida as collateral. [26] [41] [37] The twin Alexander brothers agreed to be placed under house arrest, surrender their passports, and stay away from the alleged victims. [37] However, as the hearing, under the jurisdiction of a local circuit court, only applied to the state charges, Oren and Alon remained in prison due to the federal charges against them. [26] [42] [41] [37] For the duration of the federal sex trafficking case, which also includes their brother Tal, Oren and Alon Alexander will not be released from custody, and will also likely be transferred to a federal prison. [42] [41]
During his December 13 court hearing, Tal Alexander, who was already in federal custody, was denied bond, as Miami-Dade federal Judge Lissette Reid deemed him to be a significant flight risk. [43] [44] The ruling came in spite of an offer from the Alexander family to pay $115 million in real estate holdings to secure Tal's release. [45] With this ruling, Tal was ordered to remain in federal custody until his trial. [43] [44]
It was initially agreed that Oren and Alon Alexander would be released from local Miami police custody on December 16, and transferred into federal custody. [26] [43] Following the bail hearings, it was reported that Oren and Alon Alexander would appear in a Miami federal court during the upcoming week. [45] After Oren and Alon join Tal in federal custody, the three Alexander brothers are expected to be transferred to New York. [44] [43] By December 13, 2024, approximately 40 alleged victims, including minors, had accused the Alexander brothers of rape. [43] During a court hearing on December 16, Oren and Alon Alexander's attorney Joel Denaro agreed to delay their release from local custody, alleging that the proper paperwork to finalize the bond agreement for the twin Alexander brothers had not been correctly submitted to the county jail. [46] It was also stated that even after their first appearance in federal court, Oren and Alon would both remain at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center until at least the pre-trial detention hearing. [47] The first federal hearing for Oren and Alon Alexander is set to be held on December 19, 2024. [47]
On December 19, Oren and Alon Alexander were transferred from state custody to a federal detention facility in Miami, [48] prior to their pre-trial court hearing. [48] At the hearing that day, Denaro informed Judge Jean that he would not proceed with the issue of bonds for the twin Alexander brothers until a later time, when the federal case was resolved. [48] On December 20, Oren and Alon Alexander appeared in the federal court, [49] [50] where federal magistrate Judge Ellen D'Angelo scheduled their bond hearing for December 30, 2024. [49] [51] [50] All three Alexander brothers will remain in federal custody in Florida. [51] [50]
On January 3, 2025 Oren Alexander's bond decision was delayed. [52] The bond was denied for his twin brother Alon. [52]
On January 14, it was revealed that federal prosecutors in New York had collected video evidence showing that each of the brothers videotaped some of their rapes of impaired women. [53] On January 15, 2025, Tal, Oren and Alon Alexander were all denied bail by New York federal judge Valerie Caproni, and were also ordered to eventually be transferred from Miami to New York. [54]
At the time the three Alexander brothers were arrested on December 11, their friend Ohad Fisherman, who also faced sexual assault charges, remained at large, with an arrest warrant issued against him in Miami; [36] [10] [31] [37] Fisherman was incorrectly described by the local State Attorney's Office as a cousin of the three Alexander brothers. [49] Fisherman was on his honeymoon with his wife in Japan. [49] [55] During a court hearing on December 13, it was agreed that Fisherman would return from Japan on December 17, the last day of his honeymoon, and be arraigned on December 18. [55] Fisherman is accused of assisting Oren Alexander in at least one alleged sexual assault. [49]
On December 18, Ohad Fisherman surrendered to Miami authorities and was arraigned in court. [56] Judge Jody Jean granted him a $25,000 corporate surety bond and a $260,000 personal surety guarantee bond. [57] Conditions for his release also included house arrest with an ankle monitor and an order to stay away from the alleged victim and surrender his U.S. and Israeli passports. [57] Following the hearing, Fisherman was taken into custody for booking, [57] and was released later that day after posting the $25,000 bond, with his wife and mother-in-law also putting up collateral for the $260,000 bond. [58] Another hearing focused on Fisherman's personal surety guarantee bond is set to be held on December 20. [57] Fisherman has not been named in the federal investigation against the Alexander brothers, though he remains a co-defendant of Oren and Alon Alexander in Florida. [57]
On January 2, 2025, it was reported that a new federal sexual assault lawsuit had been filed against Oren and Alon Alexander in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, [59] [60] by a Pennsylvania woman who alleged that she met the twin Alexander brothers at the 2017 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado. She said the brothers had drugged her and two of her friends before taking her to a hotel room, where Alon Alexander raped her with help from Oren. [59] [60] On January 3, 2025, it was reported that two additional women, described as friends of the Pennsylvania-based accuser, had joined the Colorado federal lawsuit against Oren and Alon Alexander. [60] The two new accusers alleged that they had also been drugged and then raped in the same hotel room by the twin Alexander brothers. [60]
