Kota Tambolaka (Tambolaka city) is the administrative capital of the Southwest Sumba Regency (Kabupaten Sumba Barat Daya), on the island of Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia. Tambolaka was in fact the name of the airport, the real former name of the city being Waitabula (sometimes written Weetabula).

Tambolaka has a tropical savanna climate (Köppen Aw) with moderate to little rainfall from May to November and heavy rainfall from December to April.

Cyclone Inigo Category 5 Australian region cyclone in 2003

Cyclone Inigo is tied with Cyclone Gwenda for being the most intense recorded cyclone in the Australian region in terms of pressure, with the possible exception of Cyclone Mahina. Inigo developed from a tropical low that crossed eastern Indonesia in late March 2003. Becoming a named tropical cyclone on 1 April, Inigo rapidly intensified as it tracked southwestward, reaching a minimum central pressure of 900 hPa on 4 April. An approaching trough weakened the cyclone and turned it to the southeast, and on 8 April, Inigo dissipated after making landfall on Western Australia, as a minimal tropical storm.

Tambolaka Airport

Tambolaka Airport is an airport in Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The Airport inaugurated a new terminal in 2015 which is able to improve passenger services from the previous terminal. Cafe and shops are available at the terminal and there is a car park and some taxi stands outside the terminal.
