Administration

The municipality was constituted in 1979 and the urban local body is classified as a first grade municipality. [1] The jurisdictional area of the municipality is spread over an area of 24.83 km2 (9.59 sq mi), with 34 municipal wards. [3] The present municipal commissioner of the city is Mr.Gorantla Sambasiva Rao [4] and the chairperson is SS REDDY GARU. [5]

Civic works and services

Tanuku is one of the municipality to be a part of energy conservation project, in coordination with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), under Union Ministry of Power. [6]

Mullapudi Harischandra Prasad, was an Indian politician and industrialist from Andhra Pradesh. He was the chairman and managing director of the Andhra Sugars Group and also the managing director of Andhra Petrochemicals and the President of the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI). He started Andhra Sugars in 1947 – one of the first industries set up in Independent India and hence called "Andhra Birla". He established the first aspirin factory in India and created a rocket fuel unit that supplied to Indian Space Research Organisation.

Rajampet is a city in Annamayya district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, located in the Rayalaseema Region formed on the banks of Cheyyeru River.
