Tanvir Sadiq is the MLA from Zadibal Assembly Constituency in Srinagar representing National Conference. He is also Chief Spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and Advisor to the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah.
Born in Srinagar into a political family, he did his schooling from Burn Hall School, Srinagar, and Tyndale Biscoe Memorial. Afterward, He earned a bachelor's degree in Information Technology and Management.
He commenced his political career as an elected corporator (City council member). He then became the Spokesperson of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference party. [3] This was followed by a stint as political secretary to the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah. He was nominated as the Chief Spokesperson of Jammu and National conference party.
He won Assembly Elections in General Elections 2024 and currently is a MLA from Zadibal Constituency. [4]
He was the Head of the National Conference Cyber Cell, [5] was elected as a corporator (member of city council) of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, [6] was re-elected as the Leader of the Opposition and was a mayoral candidate twice but never won. [7] Sadiq worked as a member of two prestigious committees of the corporation and represented the corporation at various seminars.
He was also a member of Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party, and later on joined National Conference. Tanvir was the political advisor to former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
He has been a columnist for India's largest newspapers India Today "Apply the same yard stick" [8] Mail Today "Does India need a Hero". [9] He also writes for the Gulf News and the Hindu.
Sadiq has survived attacks by terrorists. [10] Tanvir has in past contested election as an independent candidate. [11]
The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) is a regional political party in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir union territory and Ladakh. Founded as the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference by Sheikh Abdullah and Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas in 1932 in the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, the organisation renamed itself to National Conference in 1939 in order to represent all the people of the state. It supported the accession of the princely state to India in 1947. Prior to that, in 1941, a group led by Ghulam Abbas broke off from the National Conference and revived the old Muslim Conference. The revived Muslim Conference supported the accession of the princely state to Pakistan and led the movement for Azad Kashmir.
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was an Indian politician who served as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir twice from November 2002 to November 2005 and from March 2015 until his death on January 7, 2016. He held various positions, including minister of Tourism in Rajiv Gandhi's cabinet and minister of Home Affairs in V. P. Singh's cabinet. Sayeed began his political career in the wing of the National Conference led by G. M. Sadiq, which later merged with the Indian National Congress. In 1987, he transitioned to the Janata Dal and subsequently founded the People's Democratic Party (PDP), a regional political party that remains influential in Jammu and Kashmir, currently led by his daughter, Mehbooba Mufti.
Mehbooba Mufti Sayed (Urdu: محبوبہ مفتی سید) is an Indian politician and leader of the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party (PDP), who served as the 9th and last chief minister of the erstwhile state Jammu and Kashmir from 4 April 2016 to 19 June 2018. She was the first female chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. After the revocation of Article 370 of the constitution in August 2019, Mufti was detained without any charges at first and later under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act.
Farooq Abdullah is an Indian politician and the current president of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference. He has served as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir on several occasions since 1982, and as the union minister for New and Renewable Energy between 2009 and 2014. He is the son of the 1st elected chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Sheikh Abdullah. His son is the current chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah.
Omar Abdullah is an Indian politician who is currently serving as the chief minister of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He had previously served as the chief minister of the state of Jammu and Kashmir between 2009 and 2014, and is the current vice president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, a position he has held since 2009. Tyndale Biscoe School is a school in the Sheikh Bagh neighbourhood, in the Lal Chowk area of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The school was founded in 1880 CE and is one of the oldest schools in Jammu and Kashmir, the oldest being S.P school which was founded in 1874 CE. The school was started by Christian missionaries and was named after Canon Cecil Tyndale-Biscoe (1863–1949). It still has affiliations with the Church Mission Society. The first principal was Reverend J.H.Knowles.
On 26 May 2008, the government of India and the state Government of Jammu and Kashmir reached an agreement to transfer 99 acres (0.40 km2) of forest land to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) in the main Kashmir Valley to set up temporary shelters and facilities for Hindu pilgrims to Amarnath Temple. This caused a controversy, with demonstrations from the Kashmir valley against the land transfer and protests from the Jammu region supporting it. The largest demonstration saw more than 500,000 protesters at a single rally, among the largest in Kashmir's history.
Elections for the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir were held over seven days in November and December 2008. Ghulam Mohammad Shah or G. M. Shah or Gul Shah was an Indian politician who was Chief Minister of the state of Jammu and Kashmir from 2 July 1984 to 6 March 1986. He succeeded his brother-in-law Farooq Abdullah. Shah's father-in-law was Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the founder of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, of which Shah was once a senior member. Shah died on 6 January 2009 at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar. He was 88.

Rafi Ahmad Mir is an Indian politician from Jammu and Kashmir. He was previously the General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party and held administrative position in Mehbooba Mufti's government as the Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation with a ministerial status. He was one of close aides of Mufti with a popular public base in South Kashmir. Now associated with the newly formed Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party. Mir has been the key person behind Party's formation along with its founder President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari.
Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, widely known among his followers as Moulvi Sahib, was a Kashmiri Shia cleric, politician, businessman and a proponent of the Grand Ashura Procession In Kashmir.
Elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are conducted in accordance with the Constitution of India to elect the representatives of various bodies at national, state and district levels including the 114 seat unicameral Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and the Parliament of India. The first elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir took place between 28 November and 19 December 2020 in the form of by-elections to District Development Councils and municipal and panchayat level bodies. A fresh delimitation process for assembly constituencies began in February–March 2020.

A member of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, he started his political career from Hazratbal constituency in 1987 and later, represented Sonawar constituency in 1996 and subsequently served as political adviser to the then chief minister, Farooq Abdullah. Prior to his participation in assembly elections, he served as councillor of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.

Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi is known for his ferocious opposition to the abrogation of Article 370 and his advocacy for inclusive, non-sectarian politics in Jammu and Kashmir. He served three times as an MLA from Budgam and held ministerial positions in the Jammu and Kashmir government, including portfolios such as Science and Technology and Animal Husbandry. He is also a well known Shia Muslim cleric.
