As an amateur he won a bronze medal in the heavyweight division at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Outside of boxing, he placed fifth in the 2015 series of Dancing With the Stars New Zealand.

While representing Great Britain, she won gold medals at the 2019 European Games and 2020 Summer Olympics.
