Corey Charles Garth Main (born 27 February 1995) is a New Zealand swimmer who qualified to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the men's 100 metre backstroke.
Main was born in Auckland on 27 February 1995. [1] [2] Of Māori descent, Main affiliates to the Ngāti Porou and Ngāpuhi iwi. [3] He attended Macleans College in Auckland and now studies at the University of Florida on a scholarship, where he trains under Gregg Troy and competes for the Florida Gators swimming team. [2]
Main is a member of the Howick Pakuranga swimming club where he was coached by Gary Hollywood from 2005 to 2012. [2] He competed at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games held in the Isle of Man, where he won four medals in the swimming events. [4] Main won gold medals in the 50 metre, [5] 100 metre, [6] and 200 metre backstroke events, [7] and was part of the New Zealand team that won the bronze medal in the 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay. [8]
For the 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships contested at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Honolulu, United States, Main won the silver medal in the 100 metre backstroke with a time of 54.96 seconds, the bronze medal in the 200 metre backstroke with a 1:59.67, placed fifth on the 4×100 metre medley relay in 3:58.53, and sixth on the 4×100 metre freestyle relay in 3:37.06. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland, Main competed in the 100 metre and 200 metre backstroke and swam the backstroke leg in the 4 × 100 metre medley relay. [2] He made the final in both of his individual events, finishing fourth in the 200 metre backstroke. [2] [10]
In 2015, he competed at the 16th FINA World Championships held in Kazan, Russia. He reached the semifinals of the 200 metre backstroke, finishing 16th overall. [11] He also competed in the 100 metre backstroke, finishing 22nd in the heats and not advancing, [12] and was part of the New Zealand team which placed 16th in the men's 4 × 100 metre medley relay. [13]
At the 2016 Canadian Olympic Trials held in Toronto, Ontario, the second official trial for New Zealand swimmers to meet the qualifying times for 2016 Summer Olympics, Main completed his heat of the 100 metre backstroke event in a time of 54.27 seconds, faster than 54.36 seconds FINA A qualifying standard for the Rio Games. On 15 April 2016 Main was named as one of five Olympic debutants in a squad of eight swimmers to represent New Zealand at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he competed in both the 100m and 200m Backstroke events. [1] [15] [16] Main won his men's 100m backstroke heat with a time of 53.99 seconds to qualify for the semifinals. He finished 15th overall in the semifinals with a time of 54.29 seconds, but did not progress to the final. In the men's 200m backstroke event Main qualified 15th fastest for the semifinals with a time of 1:57.51 however his time of 1:58.08 was not enough to take him through into the final. [15] [16]
Corey retired from competitive swimming in 2019 at the age of 24, to pursue coaching certifications and finance jobs in the United States. [17]
Christopher James Walker-Hebborn is an English swimmer who competed for Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal at the latter.

Emma Jennifer McKeon, is an Australian competitive swimmer. She is a seven-time world record holder, three current and four former, in relays. Her total career haul of 11 Olympic medals following the 2020 Olympic Games made her Australia's most decorated Olympian and included one gold medal from the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and four gold medals from the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Anton Mikhailovich Chupkov is a Russian competitive swimmer. He is the European record holder in the long course 200 metre breaststroke and the Russian record holder in the long course 100 metre breaststroke. He formerly held the world record in the long course 200 metre breaststroke. At the 2015 European Games he won four gold medals in individual and relay events. He won the bronze medal in the 200 metre breaststroke at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He won the gold medal in the 200 metre breaststroke at the 2017 and 2019 World Aquatics Championships.
Luke Greenbank is an English professional swimmer who specialises in backstroke. A medalist in the 200 metre backstroke at the Olympic Games and the World and European championships, he also swam the first leg in the 2019 World and 2020 European Championship gold medal-winning Great Britain medley relay teams. He won a silver medal as lead-off for Great Britain in the 4 x 100 metre medley relay for men at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He won a gold medal as lead-off for England in the heats of the 4 x 100 metre medley relay for men at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Evgeny Mikhailovich Rylov is a Russian competitive swimmer and Olympic champion specializing in backstroke events. He won three gold medals at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, and a bronze medal at his senior international debut at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan. Michael Charles Andrew is an American competitive swimmer and an Olympic gold medalist. He was the 2016 world champion in the 100 meter individual medley. At his first Olympic Games, the 2020 Summer Olympics, he won a gold medal and set a world record as part of the 4x100 meter medley relay, placed fourth in the 100 meter breaststroke, fourth in the 50 meter freestyle, and fifth in the 200 meter individual medley. Andrew's swims in 2021 at the 2020 Olympics made him the first swimmer to represent the United States at an Olympic Games in an individual breaststroke event as well as another individual event other than an individual medley in the then-125-year-history of swimming at the Summer Olympics. He has won 78 medals at Swimming World Cup circuits.
Kylie Jacqueline Masse is a Canadian competitive swimmer. She is a four-time Olympic medallist, having tied for the bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 100 m backstroke and then won silver medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics in both the 100 m and 200 m backstroke and a bronze medal in the 4x100 m medley. Masse is a two-time world champion in the 100 m backstroke, breaking the eight year old world record in the process, which she held until July 2018. While winning her title in Budapest at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships she became the first Canadian woman to become a world champion in a swimming event. She subsequently became the first Canadian woman to defend her world title at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships. She is currently the captain for the Toronto Titans of the International Swimming League.
