St. Columba's School, Delhi, India, established in 1941, is one of the 12,000 English medium schools of its kind established by the Indian Province of the Congregation of Christian Brothers, which was founded by Edmund Ignatius Rice. The school's campus is located in the heart of Delhi and extends over a couple of acres. St. Columba's School alumni include three Rhodes Scholars, a Pulitzer Prize winner, and a Forbes 30 Under 30 awardee. Students are referred to as Columbans. The school admits only boys.
The Governors of the states of India have similar powers and functions at the state level as those of the President of India at Union level. Governors exist in the states while lieutenant governors or administrator exist in union territories including National Capital Territory of Delhi. The governor acts as the nominal head whereas the real power lies with the Chief ministers of the states and his/her councils of ministers. Balmiki Prasad Singh was the 14th Governor of Sikkim, India. He is an author, thinker and a retired IAS officer. He has written number of books and articles relating to Indian culture, in particular the culture of North-East India. Among his prominent books are Bahudha and the post 9/11 World and The problem of change: a study of North East India. He presided over the four-day Global Buddhist Conference in 2011 to mark the 2,600th year of Buddha's enlightenment. Around 1,000 Buddhist scholars, thinkers and followers from over 30 countries were present. B.P. Singh is also the principal architect of the Bahudha Approach, which outlines a path towards a harmonious world, as against the clash of civilizations.
Najeeb Jung is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer who served as the 20th Lieutenant Governor of Delhi from July 2013 to December 2016. He previously served as the 13th Vice-Chancellor of the Jamia Millia Islamia from 2009 to 2013.

The case was filed as an appeal to an August 2016 verdict of the Delhi High Court that ruled that the lieutenant governor of Delhi exercised "complete control of all matters regarding National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi", and was heard by the supreme court in November and December 2017.
