The women's doubles tennis event at the 2018 Asian Games took place at the Tennis Court of Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang, Indonesia from 20 to 25 August 2018.
Luksika Kumkhum and Tamarine Tanasugarn were the defending champions, however Tanasugarn has retired from professional tennis in 2016, while Kumkhum chose not to compete in this event. Xu Yifan and Yang Zhaoxuan won the gold medal, defeating Chan Hao-ching and Latisha Chan in the final. Gozal Ainitdinova and Anna Danilina, and Miyu Kato and Makoto Ninomiya won the bronze medals.

Angelique Widjaja is a retired Indonesian professional tennis player. She won the junior championships at Wimbledon in 2001, defeating Dinara Safina. She reached a peak of No. 55 in the WTA singles rankings in March 2003, and a peak of No. 15 in the doubles rankings in February 2004. She retired in 2008.
Tamarine Tanasugarn is a Thai professional tennis player. Born in Los Angeles, United States she turned professional in 1994, and has been in the top 20 in both singles and doubles.
Yayuk Basuki is an Indonesian former professional tennis player who is now a politician. She is the highest-ever ranked tennis player from Indonesia, having reached No. 19 in singles in the WTA rankings in October 1997. She retired from playing singles in 2000, but remained an active doubles player on the circuit until 2013.
Iroda Tulyaganova is a former professional tennis player from Uzbekistan.
Latisha Chan, formerly known by her Chinese name Chan Yung-jan, is a Taiwanese inactive tennis player who is a former world No. 1 in doubles.She has won 33 WTA Titles in doubles, including a Grand Slam title at the 2017 US Open alongside Martina Hingis, as well as 9 at WTA 1000 level. Chan also finished runner-up at three other Grand Slam events: the Australian Open in 2007 and 2015, and the 2007 US Open. In mixed doubles, she has won three Grand Slam titles: the 2018 French Open, 2019 French Open, and 2019 Wimbledon Championships, all with Ivan Dodig.Highlights of her singles career include reaching the semifinals at the 2006 Japan Open and the final at the Bangkok Open in 2007. She reached her career-high singles ranking of No. 50 on 11 June 2007, and became world no. 1 in doubles on 23 October 2017, the second Taiwanese player to do so, after Hsieh Su-wei. She again topped the doubles rankings on 13 August 2018, and has spent a total of 34 weeks as world No. 1.
Christopher Benjamin Rungkat is an Indonesian tennis player. He is the grandson of Benny Rungkat, former chairman of the Indonesian Air Carriers Association. Christopher's father, Michael Alexander Fritz Rungkat, is of Dutch and Indonesian descent and his mother, Elfia Mirlianti, is full Indonesian descent. In 2008, he won the final stage of French Open 2008 Boys' Doubles Juniors category with Finnish tennis player Henri Kontinen. He is the youngest ever Indonesian to be the All Indonesian Champion, and by the end of his junior career, he was awarded for Indonesian best promising athlete 2008.
Luksika "Luk" Kumkhum is a Thai tennis player. She turned professional in 2011, and reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 66 on 19 November 2018. On 16 July 2018, she peaked at No. 86 of the WTA doubles rankings.
Chan Hao-ching, also known as Angel Chan, is a Taiwanese professional tennis player. She is primarily a doubles specialist, having won 18 WTA, 2 WTA Challenger and 6 ITF titles in that discipline. Chan reached the final of the mixed-doubles competition at Wimbledon with Max Mirnyi in 2014, her first Grand Slam final. She reached two more finals in 2017, the Wimbledon women's doubles with Monica Niculescu, and the US Open mixed doubles with Michael Venus. She is the younger sister of fellow professional tennis player and former world No. 1 in women's doubles, Latisha Chan, formerly known as Chan Yung-jan.
