Terekeka is a community in Central Equatoria, South Sudan. It is the headquarters of Terekeka County. [1]

Terekeka town lies on the western bank of the Nile, 53 miles north of Juba town. [2] It is almost the capital of the Mundari people also known as the Mondari or Mandari.

Terekeka is the birthplace of Clement Wani Konga, who was governor of Central Equatoria state from 2004 to 2015. [3] [4]

Terekeka County is an administrative division of Central Equatoria in South Sudan. It is the capital of surrounding Mundari and Boma counties. It lies on both the east and west bank of the White Nile north of Juba The word "Terekeka" is a combination of two words; "Tirgigi", a kind of hard shrub and "Terere" an open hard ground usually found in the middle of shrub trees. The local referral of "Terere i Tirgigi lukata" became shortened and distorted to create the current name, "Terekeka".

Joseph Bakosoro also known as Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro is a South Sudanese politician. He is the current Minister of public service in central Equatoria, Juba. He served as governor of Western Equatoria after winning an election over Jemma Nunu Kumba, serving from 26 May 2010 to August 2015, at which time he was arrested by security officials of South Sudan for suspicions to his being linked with the arrow boys, an armed local defense force originally formed to protect local communities from attacks by the Lord's Resistance Army, later released on April 27, 2016.

Clement Wani Konga is a Mundari leader who fought in the Anyanya independence movement in the south of Sudan in 1969−72. He then joined the army of Sudan and rose to the rank of major general. In 2004 he made peace with the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) and was appointed interim governor of Central Equatoria in South Sudan. In August 2015 he was dismissed from his post by president Salva Kiir Mayardit. He continued to be active as chairperson of the Mundari Community.

Amadi State was a state in South Sudan that existed between 2 October 2015 and 22 February 2020. Amadi state formed from Western Equatoria state on 2 October 2015, following a decree that established the state along with 27 other states. It was located in the Equatoria region. Amadi State bordered Eastern Lakes State, Jubek State, Maridi State, Terekeka State, Western Lakes State, Yei River State.

Gbudwe State was a state of South Sudan that existed between 2 October 2015 and 22 February 2020. It was created from Western Equatoria state. Tambura State was split from Gbudwe State on January 14, 2017. Gbudwe State was located in the Equatoria region. Gbudwe bordered the states of Lol, Maridi, Tambura, and Western Lakes, and also the province of Haut-Uélé in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Haut-Mbomou in the Central African Republic. The state had a population of 364,272 in 2008.

Juma Ali Malou has been the Governor of Terekeka State, South Sudan since 24 December 2015. He is the first governor of the state, which was created by President Salva Kiir on 2 October 2015.

The Equator Broadcasting Corporation also known by its acronym EBC is the public-service broadcaster of Central Equatoria State. The organization is headquartered at Juba, the capital of Central Equatoria State in South Sudan and transmits on a frequency of 89.4FM and EBC TV. It was established by a gubernatorial degree in 2012 to perform the works of radio and television broadcast. With the existence of the media laws, EBC became the first state public broadcaster in the Republic of South Sudan.

River Yei is a river in South Sudan with its source in Panyana Village, Lujule payam in Morobo County of Central Equatoria State.

Aga Fall is a waterfall on the River Yei in the Geri Boma of Wudabi payam, Morobo County in Central Equatoria, South Sudan.

Moro Isaac Jenesio is one of the Youthful Leaders of South Sudan. Moro is currently the Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement for Central Equatoria State in the Transitional Government of National Unity, as of 2023. He is also the Chairperson of the South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC), a constituent Member of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) which is one of the leading Partners to RARCSS 2018 South Sudan.

Naphtali Hassan Gale is a South Sudanese politician from Morobo County, a Keliko by tribe. He is a member of Parliament in the Central Equatoria State Parliamentary House representing Lujule West and Wudabi Payams of Morobo County.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Michael Lado Allah-Jabu</span> South Sudanese politician

Michael Lado Thomas Allah-Jabu is a South Sudanese politician. He is the former mayor of Juba City Council in Central Equatoria State as of 2023. Allah-Jabu was appointed by Central Equatoria State Governor, Emmanuel Adil Anthony in November 19, 2021, replacing Kalisto Lado who was removed in a gubernatorial decree.
