Scioto County is a county located along the Ohio River in the south central region of the U.S. state of Ohio. At the 2020 census,the population was 74,008. Its county seat is Portsmouth. The county was founded on March 24,1804,from Adams County and is named for a Native American word referring to deer or deer-hunting. Scioto County comprises the Portsmouth,OH Micropolitan Statistical Area. It is located at the confluence of the Scioto and Ohio rivers.

Brian Baldridge is a former member of the Ohio House of Representatives,representing the 90th district from 2019 until his resignation in 2023. He is a Republican. The district comprises Adams and Scioto counties as well as a portion of Lawrence county. Baldridge is currently serving as a full-time firefighter/paramedic with Anderson Township Fire Department. Baldridge previously served as an Adams County Commissioner and prior to that served as a Wayne Township Trustee in Adams County. He also has served as a firefighter while also working as a farmer,including on a farm owned for seven generations by his family.
The 2024 Ohio House of Representatives elections will be held on November 5,2024,to elect representatives in all 99 districts of the Ohio House of Representatives. Members will be elected in single-member constituencies to two-year terms. These elections will be held concurrently with various federal and state elections,including for U.S. President,U.S. Senate,and the Ohio Senate.
