The Ohio House of Representatives is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly,the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio;the other house of the bicameral legislature being the Ohio Senate.
Joyce Marie Beatty is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Ohio's 3rd congressional district since 2013,and as chair of the Congressional Black Caucus from 2021 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party,Beatty represented the 27th district in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1999 to 2008,serving for a time as minority leader. She was also previously the senior vice-president for outreach and engagement at Ohio State University.
Robert Richard Cupp is an American politician who served as the Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2020 to 2022. He served in the House of Representatives from 2015,representing District 4 (Lima). He was elected as speaker on July 30,2020,replacing Larry Householder who was removed from the position following his arrest on federal bribery charges. Cupp is a former justice of the Ohio Supreme Court.

He resigned his Ohio House seat after his indictment on bribery and ethics charges in March 2012,the first sitting state legislator in Ohio indicted for bribery in 100 years. Weddington was convicted of the charges and sentenced in June 2012 to three years in prison.

After being term limited in the lower chamber of the legislature,Antonio was elected to the upper chamber of the legislature in 2018 and took office on January 7,2019.

A Republican,he upset incumbent U.S. representative Jean Schmidt to win the 2012 Republican primary election. In November 2023,he announced he would not seek re-election in 2024.

Medical and reproductive health experts,including the American Medical Association and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists,say that the reference to a fetal heartbeat is medically inaccurate and misleading,for a conceptus is not called a fetus until eight weeks after fertilization,as well as that at four weeks after fertilization,the embryo has no heart,only a group of cells which will become a heart. Medical professionals advise that a true fetal heartbeat cannot be detected until around 17 to 20 weeks of gestation when the chambers of the heart have become sufficiently developed.
