Terence Beverley Racionzer (born 18 December 1943) is a Scottish businessman and former cricketer. A batsman,he played first-class cricket for Sussex and Scotland and is a member of the Scottish Cricket Hall of Fame. In business,he was chairman of the Scottish footwear retailer Schuh.
Terry Racionzer was born in Maidenhead,Berkshire,England,before moving to Glasgow,Scotland. He was educated at Queen's Park Secondary School and the University of Glasgow. [1] From a Jewish family,his great-grandparents emigrated from Poland to London in the 19th century before settling in Glasgow. [2]
A right-handed batsman and off spin bowler,Racionzer played for Clydesdale Cricket Club in Glasgow from 1960 to 1990. He scored 11,004 runs in the Western District Cricket Union for Clydesdale,making him the club's top scorer in the competition by a 6,000 run margin,with his highest score being 123 against Drumpellier in 1975. He also took 255 wickets. [3]
Racionzer made his first appearance for Scotland in August 1965,playing against Ireland at Sydney Parade in Dublin,in what was also his first-class debut. He top-scored with 57 runs as Scotland won by an innings. [4] Racionzer made a total of 65 appearances for Scotland in cap matches,scoring 2,807 runs in 107 innings at an average of 26.2,including 5 centuries and 16 fifties. [3]
Between 1967 and 1969,Racionzer played county cricket in England for Sussex. During his career he played a total of 45 first-class matches for Scotland and Sussex,scoring 1,552 runs at an average of 21.85. [1] He scored his only first-class hundred for Scotland against Ireland at Downpatrick in 1983,making 115 runs in the first innings. [5] His final first-class appearance,also against Ireland,was on his home club ground,Titwood in Glasgow,in August 1984. [6] He also made 20 appearances for Scotland and Sussex in List A matches between 1968 and 1984. [1]
Racionzer has been inducted by Cricket Scotland into their Scottish Cricket Hall of Fame. [3]
Racionzer was a freelance business consultant before joining Scottish footwear retailer Schuh in 1990. As chairman,he was instrumental in the company's growth from its Edinburgh origins to a major nationwide chain. [7] He has continued to be involved in Scottish cricket,forming the Cricket Scotland Development Trust as a joint initiative with Cricket Scotland in 2009,and chairing it until 2013. [8] He also funded a scholarship scheme giving promising young Scottish cricketers opportunities to gain experience playing in Australia. [9]
William Lloyd Murdoch was an Australian cricketer who captained the Australian national side in 16 Test matches between 1880 and 1890. This included four tours of England,one of which,in 1882,gave rise to The Ashes. In 2019 Murdoch was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
Christopher Charles Benham is an English cricketer. Benham is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off break. He was born at Frimley,Surrey. He attended Yateley School across the county border at Yateley in Hampshire. Making his debut at the professional level for the Hampshire Cricket Board in 2001,he spent nine years playing for Hampshire,before being released by the county after the 2010 season. He is now playing club cricket for Wimbledon CC in the Surrey Championship Premier League whilst working as a financial planner at St James's Place Wealth Management.
Michael Alexander Carberry is an English former professional cricketer who most recently played for Leicestershire County Cricket Club. Carberry is a left-handed opening batsman who bowls occasional right-arm off breaks.
Nicholas Richard Denis Compton is a South African-born English former Test and first-class cricketer who most recently played for Middlesex County Cricket Club. The grandson of Denis Compton,he represented England in 16 Test matches.
Tom Nico de Grooth is a Dutch cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off spin bowler. He made his debut for the Dutch national team in a one-day game against Denmark on 26 July 2003. His highest first-class score is 196 for the Netherlands against Bermuda in the 2007-08 ICC Intercontinental Cup. In 2010,de Grooth was among the first three cricketers to be awarded central contracts with the Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond.
Gehan Dixon Mendis is an English former cricketer who was an opening batsman for Sussex and Lancashire between 1974 and 1993. He was part of the Lancashire team that won the 1990 Benson &Hedges Cup and 1990 NatWest Trophy. Mendis scored over 21,000 runs in his first-class career.
Calum Scott MacLeod is a Scottish professional cricketer. He has represented the Scotland national team since 2008,including at the 2015 World Cup and the 2016 World Twenty20. He has played county cricket in England for Warwickshire and Durham. In January 2019,MacLeod was named the ICC Associate Player of the Year at the 2018 ICC Awards.

Paul Robert Stirling is an Irish cricketer. Stirling is the opening batsman for the Ireland cricket team and an occasional right arm off break bowler. He is one of the top 10 run scorers in T20 internationals. He was one of the eleven cricketers to play in Ireland's first ever Test match,against Pakistan,in May 2018. He was appointed as the vice-captain of the Ireland team in June 2020.
Unicorns were a cricket team in England that was formed in 2010 specifically to play in the Clydesdale Bank 40 limited overs competition. They played in that competition until 2013 and from 2014 to 2018 the Unicorns team competed in the Second XI one-day and Twenty20 competitions. The 2014 season also included a 50-over match against Sri Lanka A. Members of the squad were all players without current full-time contracts with one of the regular first-class counties.
The ECB40,last known as the Yorkshire Bank 40 (YB40) for sponsorship reasons,was a forty-over limited overs cricket competition for the English first-class counties. It began in the 2010 English cricket season as a replacement for the Pro40 and Friends Provident Trophy competitions. Yorkshire Bank were the last sponsors,taking over the naming rights from their parent company Clydesdale Bank for the 2013 edition. Warwickshire won the inaugural tournament. The competition was replaced by a 50-over tournament,to bring the domestic game in line with the international game from 2014 on—the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Jacob Timothy Ball is an English cricketer. Ball is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm fast-medium pace. He was born in Mansfield,Nottinghamshire,England and educated at the Meden School in Market Warsop. On 14 July 2016 he made his Test debut for England against Pakistan. His uncle,Bruce French,also played Test cricket for England and was chosen to present Ball with his England cap before his Test debut in July 2016.
