Terry Eliot Tornek (born November 23,1945) is an American politician who was the mayor of Pasadena,California from 2015 to 2020. He previously served on the Pasadena City Council. On April 21,2015,he defeated City Councilmember Jacque Robinson in the general election to replace Bill Bogaard,the longest-serving mayor in Pasadena's history. Tornek is the second longest-serving mayor in Pasadena's history. [1] [2]
Tornek was born to Allen Vernon Tornek and Gertrude Slotkin Tornek in New York City. He was an urban renewal representative with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in New York City from 1968 to 1969.

Tornek graduated from Princeton University with a degree in international affairs and from Columbia University with a degree in urban planning.
In the late 1970s,Tornek's political career started on the city council of Springfield,Massachusetts.
Tornek served in the City of Pasadena planning department from 1982 to 1985,where he was involved in the revitalization of Old Pasadena,which included remodeling historic buildings and transforming it into a tourist destination with eateries and shops. It is now a National Landmark. He also worked in the private sector as a developer and planning director. Tornek was elected to the City Council from the 7th District in 2009 and reelected in 2013.
Tornek served on the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority,the group that operates Hollywood Burbank Airport,representing Pasadena,as well as on the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments. He gave his seat to Pasadena council member John Kennedy in 2019.
In 1967,Tornek married Maria. They have three children. In the 1970s,they lived in Massachusetts. In 1982,the Torneks moved to Pasadena. Tornek has seven grandchildren.

James Kenneth Hahn is an American lawyer and politician. A Democrat,Hahn was elected the 40th mayor of Los Angeles in 2001. He served until 2005,at which time he was defeated in his bid for re-election. Prior to his term as Mayor,Hahn served in several other capacities for the city of Los Angeles,including deputy city attorney (1975–1979),city controller (1981–1985) and city attorney (1985–2001). Hahn is the only individual in the city's history to have been elected to all three citywide offices. He is currently a sitting judge on the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The Southern California Rapid Transit District was a public transportation agency established in 1964 to serve the Greater Los Angeles area. It was the successor to the original Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA). California State Senator Thomas M. Rees sponsored the bill that created the RTD,which was meant to correct some deficiencies of the LAMTA,and took over all of the bus service operated by MTA on November 5,1964. RTD was merged into the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority in 1993.

James Thurman Butts Jr. is an American politician,currently serving as the mayor of Inglewood,California. He rose through the ranks of law enforcement in Inglewood during the 1970s and 1980s,eventually becoming a Deputy Chief. He then worked as the Chief of Police in Santa Monica,California from 1991 to 2006. Butts then took a public safety position with Los Angeles World Airports in 2006. He was elected mayor of Inglewood in 2010 and re-elected in 2014 with an 84% vote. He led efforts to renovate and reopen The Forum and develop a plan for SoFi Stadium and Intuit Dome in Hollywood Park.
The President of the Los Angeles City Council is the presiding officer of the Los Angeles City Council. The president presides as chair over meetings of the council and assignments to City Council committees and handles parliamentary duties like ruling motions in or out of order. The president automatically becomes an acting mayor when the mayor is out of state. Since 2020,the president has been elected at the first scheduled council meeting in January of even-numbered years.
