Victor Manuel Gordo (born October 1969) is a Mexican-American politician and the current mayor of Pasadena,California.
Gordo was born in Zacatecas,Mexico to a family of six. [1] He moved to Pasadena when he was a child and was a paperboy for Pasadena Star-News from age 9–17. [2] His father was a dishwasher and cook at a local Mexican restaurant. His mother was a seamstress. He attended Pasadena High School where he played football,soccer,and baseball. He obtained his Associate degree at Pasadena City College. He matriculated to get his Bachelor's degree in Finance at Azusa Pacific University and Juris Doctor at University of La Verne College of Law. He was admitted to the California Bar in 2001. Prior to being elected mayor,Gordo was on the Pasadena City Council and represented District 5. [2] [3] He also was the longest-serving president of the Rose Bowl Operating Company. [1]
Gordo is a member of the Democratic Party. In the March 3rd,2020 Primary nominating election,he received 46.52% of the vote,against the incumbent Terry Tornek who received 41.57% of the vote. He was elected mayor after the runoff on November 3,taking office December 8. He is Pasadena's first Latino mayor. [4]
On July 17,2024,Gordo became the first Democratic mayor in California to publicly call on President Joe Biden to end his campaign for the presidency. [5] [6] [7]
He was re-elected in 2024 after beating challenger Allen Shay. [8] [9] [10]
As Mayor of Pasadena,Gordo appears in Pasadena's annual New Year's Rose Parade. [11] [12]
As Mayor,Gordo has worked to develop sister city relationships between Pasadena and other municipalities. In 2024,he visited [13] and met with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan to discuss a potential sister city relationship. [14] In 2025,Gordo hosted Samantha Smith Gutiérrez,Presidenta Municipal of Guanajuato,Mexico at Pasadena's city hall in an effort to develop a sister city relationship between the two cities. Gordo is married to Kelly Van Dyke,a school teacher. They live in the Madison Heights section of Pasadena and have two adult children. [17]

Unlike Altadena,a larger unincorporated area nearby,Kinneloa Mesa is not an official census-designated place. William Mihrtad Paparian is an American politician,a former mayor of Pasadena,California,serving from 1995 to 1997. He was also a member of the Pasadena City Council from 1987 to 1999,and a Green Party candidate for Congress in 2006. He was the first Armenian-American mayor of Pasadena,as well as the only Pasadena mayor to visit Cuba during his term. Paparian has been known throughout his political career as an outspoken advocate of controversial causes,including ending the trade embargo against Cuba. He attracted national media attention for dispatching a Pasadena police helicopter to issue a citation to state aircraft spraying pesticides over the city,and for his urging Rose Parade observers in 2008 to turn their backs on the Chinese float,which he called the "Beijing Float of Shame."

The San Gabriel Mountains National Monument is a United States National Monument managed by the U.S. Forest Service,which encompasses parts of the Angeles National Forest and the San Bernardino National Forest in California. On October 10,2014,President Barack Obama used his authority under the Antiquities Act to create the new monument,protecting 346,177 acres of public lands in the San Gabriel Mountains of the Transverse Ranges. Pasadena Waldorf School is a closed co-educational Waldorf school in Altadena established in 1979 and whose educational system is based on the methods of Rudolf Steiner. The building burned down during the 2025 Eaton Fire,the school however has plans to rebuild and resume operations in the future.
