Mac & Cheese: The Appetizer (or simply The Appetizer) is an EP mixtape by American rapper French Montana, and produced by Harry Fraud. French Montana's eighteenth mixtape, it was released on December 19, 2014, [1] and is a prequel to, Mac & Cheese 4 .
Following the release of his debut album Excuse My French earlier in the year, on November 9, French Montana revealed an early cover art teasing the release of "Mac & Cheese 4" but had not specified whether it would be an album or a mixtape. [2] In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine on January 8, 2014, French confirmed that the record would be his sophomore album to be released later in the year. [3] However, with the album facing delays, on December 8, French Montana announced the release of an EP collaboration with long-time producer Harry Fraud, entitled Mac & Cheese: The Appetizer to be released on December 16. [4] After another round of delays, the mixtape was finally released on December 19 and featured seven tracks. [1]
The Appetizer received mixed reviews from music critics. Nick Demarco of The E-Fix complimented the production stating "the mixtape sounds great on a technical level" but criticized the tape for being underwhelming, "there really isn’t much to it besides the nice sounds and the parts where French reflects on his childhood and his time with Max B." [5] Max Weinstein of Watchloud.com praised the chemistry between French and producer Harry Fraud noting "his beats complement French’s meandering vocal style, like a bed of drugs for an addict." [6]

Karim Kharbouch, better known by his stage name French Montana, is a Moroccan-born American rapper. Born and raised in Morocco, he immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 13. He embarked on a musical career in 2002, releasing a slew of underground material until signing a joint-venture record deal with Puff Daddy's Bad Boy Records and Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group in 2012.
Michael Wayne Atha, better known by his stage name Yelawolf, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, actor and former semi-pro skateboarder. Born in Gadsden, Alabama, and raised in Antioch, Tennessee, he embarked on his recording career in 2005, releasing four mixtapes to positive local reception. His debut extended play (EP), Trunk Muzik gained Yelawolf mainstream recognition, leading him to sign a recording contract with Interscope Records. He re-worked the EP as his first major label release, Trunk Muzik 0-60 (2010).
Tyrone William Griffin Jr., known professionally as Ty Dolla Sign, is an American singer, songwriter and record producer from Los Angeles, California. He first gained recognition for his guest appearance on hometown rapper YG's 2010 single "Toot It and Boot It", which entered the Billboard Hot 100 as his first minor hit. He signed with Atlantic Records in 2012, and Wiz Khalifa's Taylor Gang Entertainment the following year.
Shante Scott Franklin, better known by his stage name Currensy, is an American rapper. Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was signed to hip hop labels such as Cash Money and Young Money before founding his own label Jet Life Recordings, in 2011.

Rory William Quigley, known professionally as Harry Fraud, is an American record producer. Primarily a hip hop producer, Fraud began producing at an early age and began interning at a recording studio after graduating high school. First discovered by French Montana during a recording session in Chinatown in early 2009, Fraud has gone on to become a fixture in the New York underground and mixtape scene. He gained mainstream attention when his song with French Montana "Shot Caller" became one of the most added tracks on urban contemporary radio during 2011–2012.
Lionel Du Fon Pickens, better known by his stage name Chinx, was an American rapper. He was a member of The Rockaway Riot Squad alongside fellow slain rapper Stack Bundles. Chinx later joined French Montana's Coke Boys Records, gaining recognition for his appearances on the Coke Boys mixtapes and the Cocaine Riot mixtape series. He was killed in a drive-by shooting in Jamaica, Queens on May 17, 2015. Two men have since been arrested in the case.
Flatbush Zombies are an American hip hop group from the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York City, formed in 2010. The group is composed of rappers Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice and Erick Arc Elliott, with Elliott also serving as their regular record producer. The trio are part of the East Coast hip hop supergroup Beast Coast, with fellow Brooklyn-based rap groups The Underachievers and Pro Era.
Antoine Amari Reed is an American rapper better known by his stage name Sir Michael Rocks. He started his music career in 2005 as a member of the hip hop duo The Cool Kids, and later joined the groups All City Chess Club, the "super group" P.O.C., and The Toothpick Clique. Beach House EP is the debut extended play (EP) by American singer Ty Dolla Sign. It was released on January 21, 2014, by Atlantic Records. Ty mostly produced through the entirety of this EP, alongside the variety of the other record producers such as DJ Mustard, D'Mile and Young Chop, among others. The EP features guest appearances from Wiz Khalifa, B.o.B, French Montana, Trey Songz, Twista, Jay Rock, Travis Scott and Fredo Santana, among others. Coke Boys is the tenth mixtape by American rapper French Montana, and the first installation in his "Coke Boys" series of mixtapes. It was released on September 15, 2010. The mixtape features collaborations with rappers Three 6 Mafia, Waka Flocka Flame, Akon, Gucci Mane, Fat Joe, Wiz Khalifa and French's fellow Coke Boys Chinx, Coke Boy Cheezy Dior, Droop Flip and Brock among others.
MC4 is the twenty-first mixtape by American rapper French Montana. MC4 was originally intended to be released as his second studio album. It was released on November 5, 2016, by Coke Boys Records, Bad Boy Records, Maybach Music Group and Epic Records. However, the album's release was canceled after Target unofficially released the album on CD on its original release date of August 19, 2016, two months before the album was set to release, which was later leaked online in its entirety. Subsequently, the album was heavily bootlegged. It was French Montana's last project released by Maybach Music Group before leaving the label.
Jungle Rules is the second studio album by Moroccan-American rapper French Montana. It was released on July 14, 2017 by Coke Boys, Bad Boy and Epic Records. The album succeeds his mixtape MC4 (2016), which was originally intended to be his second studio album. It features guest appearances from Future, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Young Thug, Pharrell Williams, Quavo, T.I., Swae Lee, Marc E. Bassy, Chinx and Max B, among others. Production derives from frequent collaborator Harry Fraud, as well as Scott Storch, Detail, London on da Track, Mike Will Made It and others. The album was supported by the singles "No Pressure" featuring Future and "Unforgettable" featuring Swae Lee.
Jeremie Damon Pennick, known professionally as Benny the Butcher, or simply Benny, is an American rapper and songwriter. He came to prominence in 2018 following the release of his debut album, Tana Talk 3. Along with his cousins and fellow rappers Westside Gunn and Conway The Machine, with which he forms the collective Griselda, he is known for his '90s inspired rap songs and is often credited with leading a revival of the so called 'grimy' and 'gritty' hip hop music, influenced by mafioso and drug dealing themes.

The mixtape contains guest appearances from Stove God Cooks, Cheeze, the late Chinx, Smooky Margielaa, ASAP Rocky, Vory, Max B, Rob49, Ayoub, Jeremih, Benny the Butcher, DThang, EST Gee, Big30, Nav, King Combs, Kodak Black, and Pheelz. The "Money Heist Edition" of the mixtape was released simultaneously alongside the release of the original version. It contains additional guest appearances from Kenzo B, Mr.Chicken, LGP Qua, Tory Lanez, Chinese Kitty, YNP Maine, CJ, T Dot, Bando Gz, Viso, and Jhettaheat. Production was handled by a variety of record producers, including Harry Fraud, Cubeatz, SprngBrk, ISM, Boi-1da, Matthew Burnett, Young Martey, Sahara, Cool & Dre, YC, Pro Logic, Frost, Rippa on the Beat, Miichkel, and Oogie Mane. The project serves as a mixtape for Gangsta Grillz, a mixtape series hosted by DJ Drama. It was originally supposed to be released on December 9, 2022, but it was delayed due to the release of Chinx's third studio album, CR6, which serves as the rapper's third posthumous project and was released exactly one week before the original release date of Coke Boys 6.
