The Beatz Awards is a Nigerian awards music show first introduced on 13 November 2015, by Eliworld Int'l Limited, [1] to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements of the creative minds behind the music production, business, and distribution. [2]
The event is composed of 31 categories and the 1st edition of The Beatz Awards was held on 17 December 2015, at Shell Hall, Muson Center, Onikan, Victoria Island, Lagos, with host Gordons, and Angel Ufuoma. [3] Winners of the ceremony include Cobhams Asuquo, Masterkraft, Legendury Beatz, Don Jazzy, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Ubi Franklin, Clarence Peters, Kaffy, among other.
On 17 November 2019, The Beatz honoured Don Jazzy, with the Lifetime Achievement Award. During the ceremony, the New Discovery Producer category was renamed to Don Jazzy New Discovery Producer. [4] On 8 December 2019, Don Jazzy promised 1 million naira prize to the winner of 6th edition of Don Jazzy New Discovery Producer. [5] On 30 December 2020, The Beatz Awards held a pre-event of the 6th edition of the ceremony titled The Beatz Awards 20 for 20, to celebrate 20 biggest records of 2020. [6]
The Beatz Awards 2023 announced the nominees for the 2023 edition. There are 25 categories this year.

Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known by his stage name D'banj, is a Nigerian singer, rapper, and television personality. His stage name D'banj is a combination of his first name, Dapo, and his surname, Oyebanjo. He is the founder of Mo' Hits Records with producer Don Jazzy. D'banj is best known for his song "Oliver Twist", an uptempo dance fusion of Afrobeats and electronic dance music that topped the African charts in 2011.
Michael Collins Ajereh, known professionally as Don Jazzy, is a Nigerian record producer. He founded the record label Mavin Records in 2012, for which he is chief executive officer (CEO) and has signed artists including D'Prince. Prior, he co-founded Mo' Hits Records with D'banj in 2004, and was an in-house producer for Kanye West's GOOD Music from 2011 to 2015.
The Nigerian Entertainment Awards were established in New York City in January 2006. The awards recognize the contributions of African entertainers with a special focus on Nigerians.
Once Upon a Time is the debut studio album by Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage. It was released on July 3, 2013, by Mavin Records and 323 Entertainment. The album was made available for purchase on iTunes a day before its official release, and features guest appearances from Don Jazzy, Flavour N'abania, Leo Wonder, Iceberg Slim, Sarkodie and General Pype. Its production was handled by Don Jazzy, Warren Oak Felder, Sauce Wilson, Harmony Samuels, GospelOnDeBeatz, Del B, Raydar Ellis and Spellz. Once Upon a Time was supported by seven singles—"Kele Kele Love", "Love Me (3x)", "Without My Heart", "Ife Wa Gbona", "Folarin", "Olorun Mi" and "Eminado". It was nominated for Best Album of the Year at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and for Best R&B/Pop Album at The Headies 2014.
The Headies is a music awards show established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. The annual ceremony features performances by established and promising artists. It is broadcast live on HipTV to viewers across Nigeria. The first and second editions of The Headies were held at the Muson Center in Onikan, Lagos State. Between 2010 and 2012, the awards were held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. Several media personalities in Nigeria have hosted the annual ceremony, including Darey Art Alade, D'banj, Dakore Egbuson, Banky W., Rita Dominic, M.I, Tiwa Savage and Dr SID.
The 2011 Nigeria Entertainment Awards was the 6th edition of the ceremony to reward outstanding contribution to Nigerian entertainment industry. It was held at Sharp Theater, Symphony Space, New York City on September 5, 2011. It was hosted by Funke Akindele and Julius Agwu.

John Ighodaro, professionally known as Johnny Drille, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. His career came into the spotlight when he released a cover of "Awww" by Di'Ja. He is currently signed to Mavin Records.
Teniola ApataMON, professionally known as Teni or Teni The Entertainer is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and entertainer.
The Headies Award for Producer of the Year is an award presented at The Headies, a ceremony that was established in 2006 and originally called the Hip Hop World Awards. It was first presented to Don Jazzy in 2006.
Ezeh Chisom Faith, professionally known as Rexxie, is a Nigerian record producer, DJ, and songwriter. He is popular for creating the Zanku sound, and producing Naira Marley's Soapy, Tesumole and the song KPK with MohBad.
Davido Music Worldwide, is a Nigerian record label owned by Afrobeats singer Davido. The label is home to recording acts, such as Dremo, Yonda, Peruzzi, Idowest from Lagos Island, DJ Ecool, Danagog, B-Red, Deekay, May D, Deinde, Ayanfe, Liya, Morravey, SAYTHEYCALLMESG and Logos Olori. Akano Samuel is a Nigerian record producer, Mixing Engineer and Arranger. Born in Niger State, Minna He is notable with the mainstream sound tag "Classic" and "if it's Spax then it gotta be" which is well known in the African mainstream music scene.
The 5th The Beatz Awards was held at Muson Center in Lagos on 24 November 2019. Nominees were revealed on October 15, 2019. The live show was televised on STV, Nigezie Xtreme, wapTV, TVC, BEN Television, and MTV Base, and hosted by Dr SID. It celebrated entertainment personalities across 25 voting categories, with 4 honorary Awards (non-voting). Kel-P had the highest award winnings at The Beatz Awards, by securing 3 awards at the ceremony.
The 6th The Beatz Awards was held at Muson Center in Lagos on 28 November 2021. The organizers opened a portal for the public to submit entries on 4 August 2021, and recorded 2500 entries, on October 6. Nominees were revealed on October 29, 2021. Hosted by Victory Wilson, Boda Wasiu (SLK), and Saco. It celebrated entertainment personalities across 25 voting categories, with 3 honorary Awards (non-voting).
Global Music Awards Africa is an annual award, presented by Smart Focus Media. GMAA honors outstanding musical accomplishments in Africa, with the goal to discover the next African star. The first edition was supposed to hold on 6 March 2021, at Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana. Due to COVID-19 regulations in Ghana, it was held virtually on 20 March 2021, at AICC. The most recent ceremony was held on 16 April 2022 at Lagos Oriental Hotel in Nigeria.
Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known professionally as MohBad, was a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter from Lagos. Mohbad was formerly signed to Naira Marley's Marlian Records and left the label in 2022. He was best known for his hit songs "Ponmo," "Peace," "Beast and Peace," "Sorry", "Feel Good," and "KPK " with Rexxie, which was nominated three times for The Headies awards 2022. On 18 September 2023, he ranked number 1 on TurnTable's Official Artiste Top 100.
