The album was released on 17 August 2014 and is the seventh studio album by Yorkston. It was produced by Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip in London's Livingston studio. KT Tunstall, The Pictish Trail and Taylor feature on the album.

Gettin' In Over My Head is the fourth studio album by American musician Brian Wilson, released June 2004 on Rhino Records. James Yorkston is a Scottish folk musician, singer-songwriter and author from the village of Kingsbarns, Fife. He has been releasing music since 2001. As well as recording as a solo artist, he has released music with his backing band the Athletes, as part of the Fence Collective, and as a member of the trio Yorkston/Thorne/Khan. He has also written fiction and non-fiction books.
Eye to the Telescope is the debut studio album by Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, originally released 13 December 2004, and re-released 10 January 2005 by Relentless Records. On 19 July 2005, it was nominated for the 2005 Mercury Music Prize in the United Kingdom. Tunstall promoted the album in the United States and Canada in December 2005. The album was released on 7 February 2006 in the US. Also, a special CD/DVD edition of the album was released in September 2006 in America, along with a different cover and a bonus track.

After graduation from the University of St Andrews, Lynch ran Fence Records from 2003 until 2013 and has since been running Lost Map Records. Lynch has attended and played every Green Man Festival since its inception in 2003. He's also played as band member with other musicians, including James Yorkston and Malcolm Middleton. In 2010 he released an album and toured with Adem Ilhan under the name Silver Columns.
