Brown is a best-selling author of several books on food and cooking. A Cuban sandwich is a variation of a ham and cheese sandwich that likely originated in cafes catering to Cuban workers in Tampa or Key West, two early Cuban immigrant communities in Florida centered on the cigar industry. Later on, Cuban exiles and expatriates brought it to Miami, where it is also very popular. The Final Table is an American cooking competition and reality television series hosted by food writer and critic Andrew Knowlton, and filmed in Los Angeles, California for Netflix. The first season was released on November 20, 2018. It features twelve international teams of two professional chefs each competing to create elevated dishes based on the country chosen for each episode. The first round is judged by a three-person panel—a food critic, and two culturally significant citizens, all representing the episode's country—assessing each team's interpretation of their chosen nationally significant dish. Interspersed among the cooking activities are video packages featuring the culinary biographies of the contestants.

Selena + Chef is an American television cooking show hosted by Selena Gomez that premiered on HBO Max on August 13, 2020. The first season consists of 10 episodes. In August 2020, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on November 19, 2020, and continues into early 2021. In April 2021, the series was renewed for a third season which was released on October 28, 2021. In November 2021, the series was renewed for a fourth season which premiered on August 18, 2022. On October 2, 2023, it was announced that the series would return for a holiday special entitled Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays premiered on November 30, 2023 on Food Network. A spin-off entitled Selena + Restaurant is expected to debut on Food Network in 2024.

The album featured selections of music chose by music supervisor Mathieu Schreyer — a combination of Latin jazz, New Orleans jazz, Afro-Cuban jazz, salsa, soul, funk and blues, which serve as background to the storyline as it moves through Miami, New Orleans and Austin, respectively. It also featured additional incidental music was scored by Lyle Workman.
