The Headies Award for African Artiste of the Year is an award presented at The Headies, a ceremony that was established in 2006 and originally called the Hip Hop World Awards. ^{[note 1] [1]} It was first awarded to Ghanaian hip-hop group V.I.P in 2006. ^[2]
