The Hell We Create is the seventh studio album by American metalcore band Fit for a King. It was released on October 28, 2022, through Solid State Records and was produced by Drew Fulk. It is the band's first release with drummer Trey Celaya. [1] [2] [3]
On June 23, 2022, the band unveiled the first single titled "Reaper" along with an accompanying music video. [4] On August 10, the band released the second single "End (The Other Side)" and its corresponding music video. At the same time, they announced the album itself, the album cover, the track list, and release date. [5]
On September 8, the third single "Falling Through the Sky" was published along with a music video. [6] [7] On October 13, two weeks before the album release, the band released the fourth and final single "Times Like This" featuring Jonathan Vigil of The Ghost Inside. [8] [9]

The album received positive reviews from critics. Jesus Freak Hideout rated the album 4.5 out of 5 and said: "The Hell we Create feels like a natural progression stylistically from The Path . For some, this will be a good thing, but for others, it may become stale after a few listens due to the lack of any true variance from the winning formula that has kept FFAK at the top of the game for so long." [10] Kerrang! gave the album 3 out of 5 and stated: "The Hell We Create isn't the most original album, but what's important is what's gone into it. And in that sense, of having a place to put the vagaries of life and the world and to funnel off the darkness away from a place where it can pull you down, it does its job admirably." [11] Outburn scored the album 9 out of 10 and said: "While this may not be the album everyone was necessarily looking for from Fit for a King, after a few listens, many might realize that this is the record they've been waiting for. This record's outstanding instrumental and atmospheric soundscapes, together with its unquestionable lyrical vulnerability, make it well worth listening to. It's clear that Fit for a King gave this experience their all, not to please others, but rather to bravely reveal a side of themselves that they had not previously displayed. For these reasons, The Hell We Create is their best effort to date." [12]
Rock 'N' Load praised the album saying, "FFAK has been one of my favorite bands in the metalcore scene for years thanks to how nothing they do sounds like any of their contemporaries, and The Hell We Create is no different. What we have here is one of the best metal albums of the year, filled with everything fans want, alongside some incredibly deep lyrical content, and some of the best musicianship you can hope to find in the genre. Fit for a King has created a true masterpiece with The Hell We Create and I urge everyone to give it a listen." [13] Wall of Sound gave the album a score 7.5/10 and saying: "Fit for a King have definitely delivered a solid metalcore album with The Hell We Create, however they haven't really done anything we haven't heard from them before. This could be seen as a win or a loss; a win as it's exactly what you would expect from them and they do it oh so well, or a loss, if you wanted to see some growth from the last few albums. Either way, the album features 10-tracks of polished metalcore that will keep fans satisfied for the more-than-likely two year wait until the next record drops." [14]

Avenged Sevenfold is an American heavy metal band from Huntington Beach, California, formed in 1999. The band's current lineup consists of vocalist M. Shadows, rhythm guitarist Zacky Vengeance, lead guitarist Synyster Gates, bassist Johnny Christ, and drummer Brooks Wackerman.
Bullet for My Valentine, often abbreviated as BFMV, are a Welsh heavy metal band from Bridgend, formed in 1998. The band is currently composed of Matthew Tuck, Michael Paget, Jason Bowld (drums) and Jamie Mathias. Former members include Michael Thomas, Jason James and Nick Crandle; the latter were on bass. They were formed under the name Jeff Killed John and started their music career by covering songs by Metallica and Nirvana. Jeff Killed John recorded six songs which were not released; two of these tracks were reworked later in their career as Bullet for My Valentine. A change of style from that of Jeff Killed John led the band to change their name. In 2002, the band secured a five-album deal with Sony BMG. The band has stated that their music is influenced by classic metal acts such as Metallica, Iron Maiden and Slayer. The band is part of the Cardiff music scene.
City of Evil is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold, released on June 6, 2005, through Warner Bros. and Hopeless Records. Co-produced by Andrew Murdock, City of Evil contains a more traditional heavy metal and hard rock sound than Avenged Sevenfold's previous two albums, which showcased a predominantly metalcore sound. The album title is derived from a lyric in the song, "Beast and the Harlot". The album is notable for the absence of fry vocals. M. Shadows worked for months before the album's release with vocal coach Ron Anderson, whose clients have included Axl Rose and Chris Cornell, to achieve a sound that had "grit while still having the tone". In order to increase stamina and strength on the pedals, The Rev would sit for hours practicing until he could get up to 210 beats per minute.

The group currently consists of lead vocalist Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Matt Nicholls and keyboardist Jordan Fish. Bury Tomorrow are a British metalcore band formed in 2006 in Southampton, Hampshire, England. The band is composed of six members; lead vocalist Daniel Winter-Bates, bassist Davyd Winter-Bates, drummer Adam Jackson, lead guitarist Kristan Dawson, who replaced founding guitarist Mehdi Vismara in 2013, rhythm guitarist Ed Hartwell, and keyboardist and vocalist Tom Prendergast, who both replaced Jason Cameron in 2021. While She Sleeps are a British metalcore band from Sheffield. Formed in 2006, the group consists of vocalist Lawrence Taylor, guitarists Sean Long and Mat Welsh, bassist Aaran McKenzie and drummer Adam Savage. They are currently signed to their own label Sleeps Brothers in the UK and in collaboration with Spinefarm Records in the US and UNFD in Australia. They have released three EPs, And This Is Just the Start, Split and The North Stands for Nothing, and five studio albums, This Is the Six, Brainwashed, You Are We, So What? and Sleeps Society. They received the Best British Newcomer award at the Kerrang! Awards 2012. The group has maintained the same line-up since its formation, with vocalist Taylor being the only bandmate who is not an original member. Crossfaith is a Japanese metalcore band from Osaka that was formed in 2006. Since its formation, the band has retained the same line-up with no member changes, which currently consists of vocalist Kenta Koie, guitarist Kazuki Takemura, bassist Hiroki Ikegawa, drummer Tatsuya Amano and keyboardist Terufumi Tamano. They are characterized by performing a style of metalcore with dubstep and other forms of electronic music influences, and for their intense live performances.
